News reports described debt and insolvency issues involving businesses and a family trust linked to Joe Scaffidi, husband of former Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi. The best-documented figures are historical: a 2009 secured-loan default involving Scaffidi Holdings and the Scaffidi Family Trust, and a 2017 liquidation report about Fucci Pty Ltd, formerly Premier Building Solutions. Those reports do not establish that the liabilities were Joe Scaffidi’s personal debts or what, if anything, remains outstanding today.
What the reports say, at a glance
| Date | Entity named | Reported issue | What the report establishes |

The loan principal was about $1.7 million, with about $300,000 in accrued interest at 12.75 per cent. |
| October 2017 | Fucci Pty Ltd, formerly Premier Building Solutions | Voluntary liquidation | The West Australian reported total liabilities of $568,606, including $535,490 owed to the ATO. |
| 2025 | A property company owned by Lisa and Joe Scaffidi | Dispute over administration costs | Business News reported that the Supreme Court settled the dispute; the accessible account does not state the amount, detailed order or impact on other debts. |
These figures and descriptions come from news coverage, not the underlying full court or insolvency files. They are snapshots reported at the time, not verified current balances.
What was reported in the 2009 warehouse case?
In August 2009, The West Australian reported that the Supreme Court ordered the sale of three Perth warehouses after Scaffidi Holdings and the Scaffidi Family Trust defaulted on a loan from Secure Funding. The article put the loan principal at about $1.7 million and accrued interest at about $300,000, at a rate of 12.75 per cent.
The reported borrowers were the company and trust, and the loan was secured against property. The report does not establish a personal loan balance or personal liability for Joe Scaffidi.

What happened to Premier Building Solutions?
In October 2017, The West Australian reported that Premier Building Solutions had been renamed Fucci Pty Ltd and entered voluntary liquidation. The company’s reported liabilities totalled $568,606:
- $535,490 owed to the Australian Taxation Office;
- $20,109 in employee superannuation;
- $9,397 owed to the Office of State Revenue; and
- $3,719 owed to accounting firm Bolland and Associates.
The figures are the amounts reported for Fucci in 2017. They should not be read as a current balance or as personal debts of the company’s director or shareholders.

What explanations did the 2017 report give?
The West Australian attributed the company’s financial difficulty to unpaid development work and a contracting dispute. It reported that a West Perth development owed the company at least $1.3 million. The report also described a disputed Diploma Constructions job and an unpaid invoice, as recounted by the company’s director. These were explanations reported in connection with the liquidation, not findings established here by a court.
The same article said Fucci’s litigation with Montevento Holdings was ongoing, but it was unclear whether that lawsuit contributed to the liquidation. It also reported that director Kay Collinson told a creditors’ meeting: “All creditors were paid with a plan to pay the ATO when either of the above two matters settled,” and that no funds were received from either project, “leading to the liquidation of the company.” This is the director’s statement as reported by the newspaper, not independent confirmation of payments or the company’s later financial position.

What does the 2025 property-company report add?
A 2025 Business News page says the Supreme Court settled a dispute over administration costs involving a property company owned by Lisa and Joe Scaffidi. The accessible account does not give the detailed order, the amount in dispute, or the effect on any other company debts. It therefore cannot show that the court resolved the older liabilities described above.

The reports identify companies and a family trust as the parties associated with the historical obligations. The information available does not establish that Joe Scaffidi was personally liable for the reported company or trust debts. Nor does it establish whether the reported liabilities were later paid, compromised or otherwise resolved. The 2017 figures and 2009 loan amounts should be treated as historical reporting, not current debt figures.
Separately, ABC News reported that the State Administrative Tribunal found Lisa Scaffidi committed 19 serious breaches of the Local Government Act concerning disclosure of gifts and travel in 2018. That matter concerns her public office; it is not evidence about Joe Scaffidi’s business debts.
