Sway Motorsports was reported to have shut down in 2018 without making scooters. Mark Cuban’s on-air offer to invest in the company did not close, according to post-show coverage, so the televised agreement should not be treated as money Sway received.

What Sway Motorsports pitched on Shark Tank

Entrepreneur Joe Wilcox pitched Sway Motorsports as a compact, all-electric, three-wheel vehicle for urban commuters. Inc.’s 2015 recap says he asked the Sharks for $300,000 in exchange for 10 percent of the company. Inc.’s pitch recap provides that ask.

Follow-up descriptions characterize the proposed vehicle as a three-wheeled electric scooter that leaned to steer. That describes the concept, not a production model shown to have reached customers. The available accounts do not establish that a Sway scooter was sold or independently tested.

Did Mark Cuban’s deal go through?

No. Follow-up coverage reports that Cuban offered $300,000 for 20 percent of Sway on camera, but that the agreement did not close after filming. The pitch ask and on-air offer were different terms, and neither is evidence that the company ultimately received an investment. Shark Tank Companies’ follow-up reports the post-show outcome.

Stage Reported terms What they mean
Wilcox’s pitch $300,000 for 10 percent The amount and equity share he sought, as reported in Inc.’s 2015 coverage.
Cuban’s on-air offer $300,000 for 20 percent The televised offer; follow-up coverage says it did not close.

Did the Sway scooter ever go on sale?

Shark Tank Companies’ update says Sway made no scooters and shut down in 2018. Its company listing also marks Sway out of business. These are secondary reporting and directory entries, not a company announcement or a filing establishing a formal closure date. The careful conclusion is that Sway was reported to have shut down in 2018 and that no production scooters were reported as made—not that a confirmed production model was once available and then discontinued.

Is Sway Motorsports still in business?

The available company listing marks Sway out of business, and the follow-up update reports a 2018 shutdown. No primary company or regulator record confirming the closure was identified in the sources used for those reports, so the reported status is more precise than presenting the date as independently verified.
