Maxar Space Systems became Lanteris Space Holdings on October 1, 2025, and Intuitive Machines completed its acquisition of Lanteris on January 13, 2026. Maxar Intelligence separately became Vantor. Today, Vantor is the spatial-intelligence business; Lanteris is the spacecraft manufacturer within Intuitive Machines.
What happened to Maxar Space Systems?
Maxar’s former intelligence and spacecraft businesses took separate names on October 1, 2025. Maxar Intelligence rebranded as Vantor, while Maxar Space Systems was renamed Lanteris Space Holdings LLC. The corporate renamings are documented in an SEC-filed exhibit; Vantor announced its rebrand and product direction the same day.

On November 4, 2025, Intuitive Machines announced an agreement to buy Lanteris from Advent International. The acquisition was completed on January 13, 2026, according to Intuitive Machines’ closing announcement. So the sequence is: Maxar’s businesses took separate names, then Lanteris was acquired by Intuitive Machines. Lanteris is not part of Vantor.
Is Maxar now Vantor or Lanteris?
Both names trace back to Maxar, but they refer to different businesses. The former Maxar Intelligence business is now Vantor, while the former Maxar Space Systems business is Lanteris. Following the acquisition, Lanteris sits within Intuitive Machines; Vantor remains the spatial-intelligence company.

How are Vantor and Lanteris different?
| Business | Primary output | Customer need | Current corporate context |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vantor | Satellite imagery, data, tasking, software and mission solutions | Spatial intelligence, mapping, monitoring and analysis for enterprise and government users | Vantor Inc. |

They are not direct consumer alternatives. Vantor provides information and software derived from sensors and imagery; Lanteris builds spacecraft for institutional missions.
What does Vantor do?
Vantor sells spatial-intelligence capabilities, including satellite imagery, collection tasking, basemaps, software and mission solutions. Its Tensorglobe platform is described as integrating sensor data from space, air and ground. Vantor identifies Cortex as constellation orchestration, Forge as sensor fusion, and Nexus as secure hosting and analytics. Other named offerings include Raptor, Sentry, WorldView satellite tasking, Vivid basemaps and Vantor Hub.
Vantor describes Raptor as a software suite that uses terrain data and drone-camera input to support navigation and target-coordinate extraction when GPS is unavailable. It describes Sentry as persistent site monitoring that combines satellite collection planning with AI-assisted data fusion and analytics. These are the company’s descriptions, not independent assessments of performance. Vantor also reports Tensorglobe use in U.S. government, international government and commercial settings, including the U.S. government’s GEGD program, the Army’s One World Terrain program and the Luno initiative.
Vantor’s published imagery and accuracy figures
Vantor’s About page, accessed October 8, 2026, says its imaging satellites can revisit the same location up to 15 times daily, collect nearly 7 million square kilometres of imagery per day—including more than 3.5 million square kilometres at 30 cm-class resolution—and extract ground coordinates within 1 metre CE90 accuracy. These are vendor-published claims, not independently verified measurements here.

What does Lanteris build?
Lanteris is a spacecraft manufacturer serving national-security, civil and commercial customers. Intuitive Machines says Lanteris satellites support missile warning and tracking, tactical intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, Earth observation, and space domain awareness. The company has described Lanteris as a satellite manufacturer and space-exploration provider; the cited materials concern institutional missions, not consumer spacecraft or retail hardware.
Intuitive Machines said the acquisition would add design and manufacturing capabilities to its delivery, communications and infrastructure services. That is the buyer’s strategic rationale, not proof that the expected benefits have already been achieved.
Who owns Lanteris, and what were the announced deal terms?
Intuitive Machines completed the acquisition of Lanteris on January 13, 2026. Its November 4, 2025 announcement put the transaction price at $800 million: $450 million in cash and $350 million in Intuitive Machines Class A common stock, subject to adjustment. The closing announcement confirmed completion but did not restate a final adjusted price, so $800 million is the announced, not necessarily final adjusted, amount.
For context, Intuitive Machines said Lanteris had approximately $630 million in revenue and $685 million in backlog for the 12 months ended September 30, 2025. It also reported more than $850 million in combined entity revenue and $920 million in backlog as of September 30, 2025. The November 2025 announcement characterized these figures as unaudited, based on information available to the company and subject to change; they are historical transaction metrics, not current financial results. See the acquisition announcement for the company’s terms and financial qualifications.

What the name change means for customers and investors
For a customer seeking imagery, satellite collection, mapping or analytic software, Vantor is the relevant business. A customer seeking spacecraft design and manufacturing should look to Lanteris within Intuitive Machines. The split also matters when reading company announcements or evaluating business lines: Vantor and Lanteris have distinct offerings and ownership contexts, despite their shared Maxar history.
For investors, the completed acquisition establishes that Lanteris is part of Intuitive Machines; it does not by itself establish whether the deal will improve future results. The revenue and backlog figures cited in the deal announcement were preliminary and dated to September 30, 2025, so they should not be treated as current reported performance or as a forecast.
