Marc Lore’s 2022 stealth ticketing startup was Jump Platforms, founded with Alex Rodriguez. What Marc Lore disclosed about Jump in 2022
At TechCrunch Disrupt on October 18, 2022, Lore disclosed Jump Platforms, a startup he founded with Alex Rodriguez. TechCrunch reported that Lore, then described as a co-owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves with Rodriguez, had assigned pending patents to the company and was an investor. The report said Jump had been founded in August 2021, based on Delaware incorporation papers, and was still in stealth at the time. TechCrunch’s October 2022 report is the source for those early details.
The idea grew out of a familiar sight at games: empty seats near the field or court while fans already in the venue were not allowed to move down after other attendees left. Lore described the proposal as “dynamic real-time ticketing,” telling TechCrunch, “I call it dynamic real-time ticketing. There’s lots of other things you can do with that technology.”
How the original seat-upgrade idea was supposed to work
In the 2022 concept, a fan already inside the venue could be alerted when a better seat became available and could pay to move into it. The price would start high and fall over time according to demand—a reverse auction intended to make newly vacant seats more attractive as the event continued. That is the mechanism Lore described, not evidence that the service was then broadly available or operating at scale.

How Jump’s current business differs from the original concept
Jump’s current company materials describe a wider team-facing platform spanning ticketing and fan experience. Its Timberwolves partnership page presents a team-controlled, direct-to-consumer experience that includes primary, resale and group tickets, a mobile app, in-game upgrades, marketing and data. “In-game upgrades” is the current company’s phrasing for a feature within that larger offering; it does not establish that the original reverse-auction model is available in every venue.

Which teams Jump publicly lists, and what its results claims mean
Jump’s client page lists the Timberwolves, Lynx, NC Courage, Seattle Sounders FC, Seattle Reign FC, Aberdeen FC and Denver Summit. This is the company’s public client roster; it is not an independent audit of each deployment.
Jump also presents headline outcome figures on that page: 21% year-over-year attendance growth, 50% fewer fan-support tickets, a 42% year-over-year increase in single-game sales and a 3.75× year-over-year increase in multi-game attendance. The page excerpt does not state a shared measurement period or methodology for those four metrics, so they are best read as company-reported figures rather than independently verified results.

For its 2025 Timberwolves implementation, Jump reports 88 days from contract to opening night, 69,506 fans onboarded in 13 weeks and a 98% reduction in Android app crashes. Those are also vendor-reported figures, tied to Jump’s own Timberwolves case-study materials, rather than independent measurements.

Jump moved beyond the stealth-stage story that TechCrunch reported in 2022: the company now publicly describes a broader ticketing and fan-experience business and lists multiple sports organizations as clients. The original idea—selling access to newly vacant seats to fans already inside a venue—remains useful context for understanding the company’s origins, but public materials do not establish that exact reverse-auction mechanism as a standard, universally deployed feature today.
