BedRyder, a removable seating system for pickup truck beds, did not get a deal on Shark Tank. Secondary sources report that the business later went out of business in 2019. Its current product availability and safety status have not been verified.
What was BedRyder?
BedRyder was marketed as a truck-bed seating system that could be installed for passengers and removed when the pickup bed was needed for cargo. Product descriptions mention seats with seat belts and cup holders. Those descriptions do not establish that the product met any particular motor-vehicle safety standard.
Whether a setup like this is legal for public-road use depends on applicable law and the vehicle configuration. The available sources do not establish that BedRyder was street-legal in any current jurisdiction or that surviving units have current safety certification. Do not treat its historical marketing as proof of present-day safety or legality.
What happened on Shark Tank?
BedRyder appeared in Season 6, Episode 21, listed as airing March 6, 2015. The episode tracker identifies George Conway as the founder. The Shark Tank Blog’s pitch recap reports that Conway asked for $200,000 in exchange for 15% of the company and left without an investment.

The recap attributes the Sharks’ concerns to potential liability, the cash required to scale production, and uncertainty about ownership. It says Conway was the salesperson and the inventor held the majority interest. These details are the blog’s account of the televised pitch, not independently audited company records.
Is BedRyder still in business?
The Shark Tank Blog’s update reports that BedRyder went out of business in 2019. A current episode and company tracker also labels the business out of business. The sources do not provide a company announcement or closure filing, so the status is best described as reported rather than independently confirmed.
