During audience questions, an attendee asked Welch about the $HAWK crypto project. She replied, “Does this look like the face of a girl who could talk to you about crypto?” Reports said roughly half the audience had left by the end, though that estimate was not independently verified.
What happened at the VidCon live recording?
The event was a live recording of Welch’s Talk Tuah podcast at VidCon 2025 in Anaheim, California. Comedian Whitney Cummings appeared, and the Times of India also identified co-host Chelsea Bradford. Accounts published by Futurism on June 20, 2025 and The Times of India on June 25, 2025 described a disruptive crowd and audience departures during the discussion.
The coverage described repeated “Hawk Tuah!” chants and Cummings telling attendees off as the conversation continued. Both accounts said that about half the audience had left by the end. That is a media-reported estimate, not a verified headcount: Futurism attributed its figure to Mashable’s event coverage, while The Times of India also reported an approximate departure figure.
What did Welch say when asked about $HAWK?
During audience Q&A, an attendee asked Welch about the $HAWK cryptocurrency project. As quoted by both outlets, she answered: “Does this look like the face of a girl who could talk to you about crypto?” The exchange was the clearest point at which the project entered the live event’s discussion.

What is established about the crypto fallout?
Futurism reported that Welch had said she was cooperating with plaintiffs’ attorneys in a lawsuit against her crypto project partners. The reports cited here do not establish the case’s current status, determine responsibility for the project, or document a legal finding of fraud. The audience exchange at VidCon was a podcast Q&A, not a formal legal proceeding.
That distinction matters: the reported crowd reaction and the $HAWK litigation are related context, but neither the walkouts nor Welch’s remark establish what happened legally or financially with the project.
