George Cheeks is Skydance TV’s Co-Chair and Chief Content Officer, leading its television division across studios, broadcast and cable networks, stations, and sports. JB Perrette is Co-Chair and Chief Business Officer for both Skydance TV and Skydance DTC, overseeing commercial functions that span distribution, advertising, content sales, streaming strategy, marketing, and operations. Their announced roles pair content leadership with business oversight; they do not, by themselves, establish how the combined companies will be integrated.

What is George Cheeks’s new job at Skydance?

Skydance’s October 5, 2026 announcement named Cheeks Co-Chair and Chief Content Officer of Skydance TV and said he would co-lead its newly formed Television division. The announcement described a remit broader than any single network: it includes three television studios, CBS and its local stations, more than 50 cable networks, and a global sports group. These are company descriptions of the division’s scope, not an independent operating audit. Skydance’s leadership announcement and its leadership page identify the included businesses.

The businesses in Cheeks’s announced remit

  • Studios: Warner Bros. Television Studios, CBS Studios, and Paramount Television Studios.
  • Broadcast and local television: the CBS Television Network and 27 local stations, according to the company.
  • Cable: more than 50 U.S. and international cable networks, including examples such as HGTV, Food Network, TBS, TNT, Discovery, BET, Comedy Central, MTV, and Nickelodeon.
  • Sports: Skydance’s global sports group, which Cheeks’s first staff memo described as bringing together CBS Sports, TNT Sports, and Warner Bros. Discovery Sports.

How did Cheeks’s role evolve?

Cheeks joined Paramount in 2020, later serving as Co-CEO of Paramount Global and CEO of CBS. Paramount’s biography credits him with helping move CBS from a broadcast brand toward a multiplatform provider across broadcast and streaming. When Skydance first took control of Paramount in 2025, Variety reported that Cheeks was tapped to chair Paramount TV Media. After the Paramount–Warner Bros. Discovery combination, the October 2026 announcement placed him in the broader Skydance TV co-leadership role. This sequence describes the documented transitions, not his entire career. The company biography and Variety’s October 7 report provide that context.

What does JB Perrette do at Skydance?

Perrette is Co-Chair and Chief Business Officer of both Skydance TV and Skydance DTC. The company says his direct global oversight includes Global Distribution, Advertising Sales, Content Sales, DTC Strategy, Marketing, and business operations. That makes his remit the clearest announced link between the television portfolio’s commercial activity and the direct-to-consumer business. The announcement and leadership page list those functions.

Why the role is described as spanning linear and DTC

“Linear” refers here to the scheduled television businesses—broadcast and cable—while DTC means direct-to-consumer streaming. Perrette’s title crosses both organizations, and his listed responsibilities include distribution and advertising as well as DTC strategy and marketing. The title signals a broad business remit; it does not prove that linear and streaming operations have already been combined into one system.

Perrette’s career background

Before the Skydance role, Perrette was CEO and President of Global Streaming and Games at Warner Bros. Discovery. Company biographies say he led HBO Max’s rollout to more than 130 markets and describe a $4 billion-plus profitability turnaround during his remit, along with a games portfolio that included Mortal Kombat and Hogwarts Legacy. The same biographies cite earlier leadership in international and streaming operations at Discovery and 11 years at NBCUniversal, including digital and affiliate distribution and a role in Hulu’s creation and development. These are employer descriptions of his experience and accomplishments, not independent assessments of personal causality. Skydance’s biography contains the figures and career history.

How do the two roles differ?

Area George Cheeks JB Perrette
Announced title Co-Chair and Chief Content Officer of Skydance TV Co-Chair and Chief Business Officer of Skydance TV and Skydance DTC
Primary emphasis Content leadership and the television division Business leadership across television and direct-to-consumer
Named scope Three studios, CBS, local stations, cable networks, and sports Distribution, advertising sales, content sales, DTC strategy, marketing, and business operations
Relevant background Paramount and CBS leadership, including CEO of CBS Streaming, international distribution, digital and affiliate distribution, and games

The roles are complementary, not interchangeable: Cheeks’s announced center of gravity is content and the television portfolio; Perrette’s is the business machinery that serves both TV and DTC. The published titles and remits do not specify every reporting line below them.

What priorities did Cheeks set, and what remains unsettled?

In a staff memo reproduced by Variety on October 7, Cheeks described the group as a combination of networks, studios, platforms, and programming genres. He said the three studios would develop franchises, premium originals, and unscripted programming for platforms and partners. He called CBS a cornerstone of a multiplatform strategy and described CBS News across broadcast, streaming, and digital. Those are Cheeks’s stated strategic aims, not evidence that the businesses are already operationally integrated. Variety reproduced the memo.

Cheeks also acknowledged the transition’s uncertainty and said further details on structure and priorities would come later. As a result, the announcement establishes the top-level roles and broad business scope, but not the final internal structure, lower-level reporting lines, specific integration choices, or realized synergies.

Why does the dual TV–DTC remit matter financially?

Paramount Skydance’s May 2026 filing forecast that DTC revenue and profit growth would accelerate in 2026 compared with 2025. It also expected pay-TV subscriber declines to continue weighing on TV Media affiliate revenue, alongside ongoing pressure on linear advertising, though the company expected those advertising declines to moderate relative to 2025. These were management forecasts in that filing, not reported 2026 results. The May 2026 filing sets out that outlook.

That forecast helps explain why a leader whose remit covers both TV and DTC is strategically relevant: the company was describing growth expectations for streaming while also flagging headwinds to traditional TV revenue. It does not establish that the two businesses have been integrated or that the forecast has been achieved.
