Gamefound acquired Indiegogo on July 22, 2025, and announced the deal publicly two days later. Indiegogo says it moved to a platform powered by Gamefound technology on October 16, 2025. The companies said Gamefound would remain focused on tabletop projects while its technology supported Indiegogo’s wider categories. For campaign creators and backers, the practical changes include a new platform experience, a published 5% platform fee plus processing charges, and the renaming of InDemand to Late Pledge.

What happened to Indiegogo?

Indiegogo was acquired by Gamefound, a crowdfunding company focused on tabletop projects. Indiegogo’s help center gives July 22, 2025, as the acquisition date; Gamefound made the deal public on July 24. Indiegogo later confirmed that it migrated to a platform powered by Gamefound technology on October 16, 2025. Indiegogo’s transition FAQ and its post-migration update describe the transition.

What did the companies say the deal would change?

In its announcement, Gamefound said its technology would power Indiegogo categories, while Gamefound would continue to focus on tabletop. It also said Gamefound campaigns would become discoverable on Indiegogo and that users could log in with either platform’s credentials. Those were announced plans; the announcement alone does not establish that every element was implemented exactly as described. Gamefound’s announcement sets out the original plan.

Gamefound describes its project scope more broadly than board games alone. Its creator guidance lists tabletop role-playing games, collectible miniatures, gaming peripherals, comics, books, and related media among possible projects. Creators must meet platform requirements and be based in an accepted country; Gamefound retains discretion over campaign acceptance. Gamefound’s creator guidance provides its eligibility details.

What changed for Indiegogo creators and backers?

Fees published after the migration

Indiegogo’s post-migration update describes a flat 5% platform fee, plus payment processing charges of 3% and $0.20 or €0.20 per transaction. These are the fees stated in that update, not a guarantee that the current pricing or every campaign’s charges remain unchanged. Before launching or backing a campaign, check Indiegogo’s upgrade information and the current fee terms for the campaign.

InDemand is now called Late Pledge

The post-migration update says the post-campaign funding phase formerly known as InDemand is now called Late Pledge. The name changed; the article does not establish that every feature or campaign arrangement is identical across all projects.

Payment arrangements during the transition

Indiegogo’s October 7, 2025 transition FAQ said campaigns already live at the time of the upgrade would continue processing through Stripe, while campaigns launched after the upgrade would use Adyen. Because that FAQ was published before the October 16 migration, treat it as a description of the transition arrangements, not as a statement of current payment rules. Creators and backers making a decision now should consult Indiegogo’s current campaign and payment guidance.

Other features described in the transition FAQ

The FAQ also described improved navigation, multilingual support, more than 20 payment options, and Stretch Pay. These were features outlined during the transition; check current official help information to confirm availability and terms for a particular campaign or region.

Will Gamefound still focus on board games?

Gamefound said it would remain dedicated to tabletop while bringing its technology to Indiegogo’s broader set of categories. Its creator guidance includes board games and several tabletop-adjacent formats, along with related media. The guidance also makes clear that eligibility depends on accepted countries and platform requirements, and that listing a project type does not guarantee acceptance.

What is known about the purchase price and ownership?

The public announcement reviewed here does not state the purchase price or provide detailed ownership terms. That absence is not evidence that no consideration was paid or that a particular ownership structure applies; the available announcement simply does not provide those details.

What creators should compare before choosing a platform

The acquisition does not by itself answer which platform is a better fit for a specific campaign. A creator evaluating options should check the relevant terms and requirements directly, especially because the transition information is dated and does not provide a complete current comparison.
