Where Audemars Piguet stands today
Audemars Piguet (AP) describes itself as an independent, family-owned company rooted in Switzerland’s Vallée de Joux, where its core production and development activities are based. Ilaria Resta has served as CEO since January 2024, according to the company’s company history. AP reported production capacity of around 50,000 watches in 2025. Capacity is a measure of the scale it could produce, not a promise that actual output will reach that level or keep increasing.
Why manufacturing integration is part of AP’s direction
Le Brassus brings watchmaking skills together
AP inaugurated its Manufacture in Le Brassus in January 2026. The company says the site brings its main watchmaking skills under one roof and reinforces its integrated-manufacture model. That investment signals a commitment to developing production around its Vallée de Joux base; it does not, by itself, establish a future production target.
Meyrin’s status is not established
AP’s company history described a building in Meyrin for watch-case production as scheduled for completion in 2026. The cited company material does not establish whether the project has opened, so its completion should not be treated as confirmed.

How AP is combining artisan work with manufacturing
The Atelier des Établisseurs is a concrete example of AP’s creative direction. The company presents it as a contemporary revival of an artisan-network approach associated with its earlier history: independent craftspeople work alongside in-house expertise, and the artisans behind each watch are identified. AP presented the project’s first watches at its first participation in Watches and Wonders Geneva in 2026. The company framed that appearance as a celebration of watchmaking skill rather than a commercial reason to join the fair.
This approach sits alongside, rather than in opposition to, integrated manufacturing. AP’s stated model combines coordinated in-house capabilities with room for individual craft and collaboration.

The Royal Oak’s place in the future
The Royal Oak remains a defining reference in AP’s heritage and public identity. In an interview published by Wallpaper* on 5 October 2026, CEO Ilaria Resta called it “beyond an icon,” saying it “can survive the test of time; the test of materials and taste, and can live forever.” That is her view of the design’s cultural durability, not a forecast of demand, sales, or the proportion of AP’s future watches that will be Royal Oaks.
What AP’s sustainability commitments mean
Climate targets are commitments, not results
AP says the Science Based Targets initiative validated its 2030 climate commitments in 2025. The company’s targets are an absolute 42% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions and an absolute 25% reduction in mobility-related Scope 3 emissions, alongside a commitment for suppliers to set science-based targets by 2030. Scope 1 covers direct emissions; Scope 2 covers indirect emissions from energy; and Scope 3 covers value-chain emissions the company can influence indirectly. These figures describe goals, not reductions already achieved. AP explains the targets on its climate page.

Materials, longevity, and circularity
AP describes its approach as involving a compact supply chain and responsible sourcing. In 2025, it says it introduced a product circularity plan and began an ongoing Life Cycle Assessment programme. The company also presents longevity, maintenance, and transmission of watches as ways to keep materials in use. Its wider sustainability framework has three pillars—Environment, People and Communities, and Governance—and six priorities: watchmaking savoir-faire, inclusivity, local-community well-being, climate change, raw materials, and business ethics including human rights. The available company statements support a picture of AP investing in integrated manufacturing while preserving space for artisan collaboration, keeping the Royal Oak central to its identity, and pursuing climate and circularity commitments. They do not establish future revenue, sales, market share, actual production growth, or the future mix of collections. For a reader assessing the company’s business prospects, those outcomes remain uncertain; stated strategy and targets should not be mistaken for financial forecasts.
