Those figures come from estimates by different sources, not a single forecasting method, and none establishes what the assets will actually be worth. Treat them as uncertain scenarios—not expected returns.
What the estimates say about $1,000 in each cryptocurrency
The table below reproduces the prices, targets, and hypothetical investment values reported by Leo Sun in The Motley Fool on October 7, 2026. The “current price” figures are that article’s dated snapshot, not live prices. Each target is an estimate attributed to a different source or platform.
| Cryptocurrency | Price in the article (Oct. 7, 2026) | 2030 estimate and attributed source | Reported potential gain | Hypothetical value of $1,000 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bitcoin (BTC) | $83,000 | $2 million — Standard Chartered | 2,310% | $24,100 |
| Solana (SOL) | $116 | $2,000 — Standard Chartered | 1,624% | $17,240 |
| XRP | $1.43 | $28 — Standard Chartered | 1,858% | $19,580 |
| Cardano (ADA) | $0.25 | $0.50–$4.00 — CoinStats | 100%–1,500% | $2,000–$16,000 |
| Dogecoin (DOGE) | $0.09 | $0.11 — Coinbase | 22% | $1,220 |
| Shiba Inu (SHIB) | $0.00001 | $0.001898 — Flitpay | 18,880% | $189,800 |
These are the figures as reported by The Motley Fool; they are not a common set of forecasts constructed on the same assumptions. The Motley Fool’s Standard Chartered labels for Solana and XRP are also reported in secondary coverage: CoinMarketCap Academy covered the $2,000 Solana target, and Yahoo Finance covered the $28 XRP target. Those reports are not the bank’s original research. The Bitcoin target was not independently corroborated in the cited coverage.
Why the projections differ
The estimates reflect different sources and different kinds of assumptions. The table does not provide a shared model, probability range, or basis for comparing forecast quality. A large percentage gain in one row therefore does not mean that forecast is more likely than a smaller one.

Bitcoin: a store-of-value argument
Sun presents Bitcoin’s potential appeal through the “digital gold” narrative: demand could benefit if investors see it as a store of value or hedge against fiat-currency debasement. That is an investment thesis, not a guarantee that demand will grow or that the $2 million target will be reached.
Solana and Cardano: utility and developer activity
Sun’s discussion centers on whether Solana and Cardano can attract developers and users as alternatives to Ethereum. For Cardano, he also points to a trade-off: its peer-reviewed approach may constrain the pace of development. Adoption and competition determine whether these arguments translate into sustained demand; neither outcome is assured.

XRP: payments thesis versus stablecoins
The article frames XRP’s case around cross-border payments and its possible role as a bridge currency. That thesis faces competition from stablecoins, which can also be used to move value. The $28 figure remains an attributed estimate, not evidence that XRP will capture payment activity.
Dogecoin and Shiba Inu: speculative attention
Sun describes the meme-coin cases as more dependent on speculative interest and attention. He cautions readers against placing too much faith in particularly high crowdsourced estimates. A very low quoted price per token does not, by itself, show that an asset is cheap or has greater upside.
How to read the $1,000 figures
- They are scenarios, not promised returns. The hypothetical values follow from the article’s selected price estimates; they do not show the odds of reaching those estimates.
- The source matters. The targets are attributed to Standard Chartered, CoinStats, Coinbase, and Flitpay, but the estimates do not share a disclosed methodology in the table.
- The date matters. The starting prices are labeled October 7, 2026. Crypto prices move, so the calculations do not describe what $1,000 would buy at another date.
- Token unit price is not a value ranking. Shiba Inu’s tiny nominal price does not establish a better investment case than Bitcoin’s higher unit price. The table compares hypothetical outcomes under selected targets, not risk-adjusted value.
As Sun puts it, “When it comes to cryptocurrencies, we should take analysts’ estimates with a grain of salt.” Cryptocurrencies are difficult to value, and the industry’s future is uncertain. The available figures do not establish any asset’s actual 2030 value.

The estimates alone cannot answer that question. They omit the likelihood of each scenario and do not establish how much an investor could lose. Consider whether you can afford a substantial or total loss, how a volatile crypto holding fits your broader finances, and whether you understand the particular asset’s demand thesis and risks. Do not choose a token solely because its quoted unit price is low or its headline upside is large.
Rank #4
Sun’s personal view in the article was that he would consider Bitcoin or Solana only with money he could afford to lose, and would avoid the other four. That is his opinion, not individualized financial advice. The article disclosed that Sun held no position in the named assets; The Motley Fool disclosed positions in and recommendations of Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and XRP, and recommendations of Coinbase Global and Standard Chartered Plc.
