What OpenAI announced in December 2024
OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Pro on December 5, 2024, describing it as “a $200 monthly plan that enables scaled access to the best of OpenAI’s models and tools.” The launch offer included OpenAI o1, o1-mini, GPT-4o, Advanced Voice and o1 pro mode. OpenAI’s launch announcement is the source for those launch-date details; they should not be read as a complete description of today’s plan.

What ChatGPT Pro costs now
OpenAI’s Help Center currently lists three Pro tiers. The $200 monthly option remains, but it is one of three plans, and OpenAI says new Pro 200 subscriptions have a lower included usage allowance than the earlier offer. Current limits vary by tier and model. Check OpenAI’s current Pro plan information before subscribing, since prices, features and limits can change.

Does ChatGPT Pro include o1?
OpenAI’s December 2024 announcement explicitly included o1 and o1 pro mode in the original Pro plan. The current Help Center describes model access and allowances as tier-dependent, so the launch list alone should not be used to infer a particular model’s current limit or availability under every tier. Consult the current plan page for those specifics.
What o1 pro mode does
OpenAI describes o1 pro mode as a version of o1 that uses more compute to work through difficult problems, and says it can take longer to respond. That is OpenAI’s explanation of the feature, not a guarantee that an answer is correct or that it will outperform another option on every task.
OpenAI’s o1 System Card, dated December 5, 2024, says the o1 model family is trained with reinforcement learning to perform complex reasoning. It also notes that production performance can vary with system updates, parameters, prompts and other factors. Treat responses as useful assistance rather than verified facts, especially when a mistake could affect a financial, medical or legal decision.

There is no single value judgment that applies to every subscriber. Compare the monthly fee with how often you expect to use the included models and tools, and whether the relevant tier’s usage allowance and speed meet your needs. A plan’s name or launch-era feature list does not answer those questions by itself.
