King’s 2023 announcement paired two striking Candy Crush franchise milestones: the game was approaching its 15,000th level, and the franchise had generated more than $20 billion in lifetime-to-date revenue. The revenue figure was not an annual total, and it covered the wider Candy Crush franchise—not just Candy Crush Saga. The level milestone was announced as upcoming in September 2023 and later described as achieved during that year.
What happened with the 15,000th level?
On September 27, 2023, King said Candy Crush Saga would soon release level 15,000. That wording matters: the announcement described an upcoming level, not one already released. Activision Blizzard’s year-end recap later said the game added its 15,000th level during 2023, confirming the milestone was reached that year. King’s announcement and Activision Blizzard’s 2023 recap therefore describe different points in the same milestone.
What did King mean by $20 billion in revenue?
King reported more than $20 billion in lifetime-to-date revenue for the Candy Crush franchise in 2023. It was not revenue earned in 2023, and the stated scope was the franchise rather than Candy Crush Saga alone. The figure is a historical company-reported total; the available announcement does not establish a current total for 2026. King’s 2023 announcement also said the franchise had passed five billion lifetime-to-date downloads.
How to read the other figures in the announcement
| Figure | Scope and time basis | What it does—and does not—show |
|---|---|---|
| More than 200 million monthly active players | King’s games overall, as of Q2 2023 | A dated company-wide audience figure, not Candy Crush Saga’s individual monthly player count. |
| More than five trillion levels completed | Candy Crush Saga players collectively, by King’s 2023 announcement | A cumulative game-play total, not the number of levels in the game. |
| Almost seven times around the world | King’s playful estimate of cumulative swipe distance over the preceding five years | A company comparison, not an independently measured travel statistic. |
King also said the franchise had been the top-grossing game franchise in U.S. app stores for six years in a row. The announcement did not name the measurement source or specify the six-year interval, so that claim should be read with those limits rather than as a fully documented ranking. King’s release provides the company’s figures and wording.

Why the level milestone mattered to the game
King said the newest designers on its team receive the honor of designing milestone levels. The announcement framed the 15,000th level as part of a longer run for Candy Crush Saga: the game marked its tenth anniversary in 2022, while King marked its twentieth anniversary in 2023. These milestones describe the game’s content and company history; they do not indicate a new financial result or a change in the game’s current level count.

No current level count or updated lifetime franchise revenue is established by the cited 2023 sources. They document what King announced that year and what Activision Blizzard later recapped for 2023; neither figure should be presented as the live total in 2026 without a newer direct source.
