Acura’s U.S. sales figures point to serious pressure on some sedan nameplates, but they do not prove that Japanese luxury and sports sedans as a whole have a dim future. Integra sales fell again in 2025; TLX sales edged up from a very low 2024 base but remained far below 2023. Meanwhile, Acura’s total sales returned to slight growth, with SUVs accounting for most of its volume. The figures are a warning about particular models and the changing mix of Acura’s lineup—not a forecast for every Japanese sedan.
What Acura’s sales figures show
These are manufacturer-reported U.S. calendar-year sales. The 2024 and 2025 percentage changes compare each year with the preceding year; the 2023 figures provide context for how far the models have moved from their earlier totals.
| Acura model or brand | 2023 sales | 2024 sales | 2025 sales | 2025 change |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Integra | 32,090 | 24,398 | 20,178 | Down 17.3% |
| TLX | 16,731 | 7,478 | 8,030 | Up 7.4% |
| Acura overall | Not stated in the cited 2023–2025 reports | 132,367 | 133,433 | Up 0.8% |
Acura’s 2024 report recorded a 24.0% drop for Integra and a 55.3% drop for TLX. In 2025, those trajectories diverged: Integra declined another 17.3%, while TLX rose 7.4%. The TLX increase is a modest rebound from 7,478, not a return to its 2023 total of 16,731. Acura overall fell 9.1% in 2024, then grew 0.8% in 2025. Acura’s December 2024 sales report and December 2025 report provide the year-end figures.
Acura’s lineup is increasingly SUV-heavy by sales volume
Acura’s 2025 model totals make the contrast between its cars and crossovers clear. The ADX is a crossover; RDX, MDX and ZDX are SUVs. Integra and TLX are the two sedan nameplates in this comparison.

| Acura model, 2025 U.S. sales | Units |
|---|---|
| MDX | 41,460 |
| RDX | 31,627 |
| ADX | 20,133 |
| ZDX | 12,005 |
| Integra | 20,178 |
| TLX | 8,030 |
The three SUVs and crossover listed above together sold 105,225 units—most of Acura’s 133,433 total. The 2026 Honda Digital FactBook reports the 2025 model totals. Acura’s own 2025 sales report attributed the brand’s slight increase to gateway models and SUVs, and said supply shortages affected key models; it specifically noted improved supply helped MDX and RDX in December. That explanation concerns the models Acura identified and does not establish why Integra or TLX sales changed.
The broader Japanese-car evidence is mixed
Other manufacturers’ results add context, but the available figures do not form a complete measure of Japanese luxury or sports sedans as a category.

- Infiniti: Q50 sales fell from 5,428 in 2024 to 529 in 2025. Q60 Coupe sales went from 52 to zero. The Q50’s steep percentage decline is best understood alongside its already small 2024 base.
- Lexus: The Lexus division sold 370,260 vehicles in the United States in 2025, up 7.1%. That is a brand-wide total, not a sedan result, so it cannot show whether Lexus sedans rose or fell.
- Nissan Z: U.S. sales increased from 3,164 in 2024 to 5,487 in 2025. The Z is a sports car, not a sedan, but its increase is a reminder that the results do not point in one direction for every Japanese performance model.
The Infiniti and Nissan figures come from Nissan’s 2025 U.S. sales report; Lexus’s division total is from Toyota Motor North America’s 2025 U.S. sales report.
What the longer Acura history adds—and what it does not
Honda’s historical U.S. sales table lists TLX at 63,580 in 2018 and 16,731 in 2023. The 2025 total of 8,030 leaves it well below that 2023 level, despite the latest year-over-year increase. Integra sold 30,468 in 2018 and 32,090 in 2023, but those numbers should not be read as a continuous same-generation run: the Integra returned to the U.S. lineup in 2022. Honda’s factbook notes that the model lineage includes the RSX. The historical sales table and lineage notes appear in Honda’s 2024 Digital FactBook.

Why sales totals cannot settle the category’s future
Sales totals show how many vehicles were sold; alone, they do not explain why a model’s sales changed or what will happen next. They do not measure demand independently of inventory, establish profitability, or determine whether a manufacturer will discontinue a nameplate. Acura’s comments about supply shortages are relevant context for its cited models, but they are not evidence that supply explains the sedan declines.
Nor do these selected model and brand figures prove that Japanese luxury and sports sedans overall are declining. A broad conclusion would require a defined peer group and comparable model-level results across several years, with launches, discontinued models, inventory conditions and body styles treated consistently. Here, the strongest defensible reading is narrower: Integra remains under pressure, TLX has not recovered to its 2023 volume, and Acura’s sales are concentrated more heavily in its SUV and crossover models. The cited figures do not establish the future of every Japanese sedan.
