At the All-In Summit in September 2025, he warned conditionally that the United States would be “toast” if AI and robots did not solve the national-debt problem. The reported remark concerned debt and rising interest payments, not Bitcoin’s price, a target, or a forecast period.
What did Musk say?
During an All-In Summit interview in September 2025, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said: “If AI and robots don’t solve our national debt, we’re toast.” Yahoo Finance’s contemporaneous coverage places the remark in a discussion of national debt and Musk’s time leading the Department of Government Efficiency. It also reports him describing the government as “basically unfixable.” Yahoo Finance’s coverage attributes the quoted warning to that appearance.
The conditional matters: Musk said what he believed would happen if AI and robots did not solve the debt problem. The sentence does not say they will solve it. A separate summary reports that Musk shared a clip with the one-word caption “Toast”; that caption is not a substitute for the spoken statement.
Was this a Bitcoin price prediction?
No. The quoted statement mentions AI, robots, national debt, and the consequence Musk attached to the debt problem. It gives no Bitcoin price, direction of movement, or time horizon. Calling it a Bitcoin-boom prediction would add a claim that the reported words do not support.

A separate argument could connect government debt or monetary conditions to Bitcoin, but it would need its own evidence and a clearly defined forecast. The coverage of Musk’s remark does not establish such an analysis, nor does it show that the Federal Reserve predicted a Bitcoin price boom. The attribution and the market claim should not be conflated.
What does the $37 trillion figure mean?
The $37 trillion figure is a historical 2025 debt milestone, not a current total. A later Yahoo Finance report on the U.S. national debt reaching $38 trillion described the $37 trillion milestone as occurring about two months earlier. That retrospective timing does not independently verify either amount against a primary government debt source, so it should not be presented as a freshly checked balance. Yahoo Finance’s later report provides the $37 trillion-to-$38 trillion context.

Musk’s warning was about the debt and rising interest payments, but the quoted sentence does not supply a debt calculation or a Bitcoin-market outlook. The dollar figure supplies context for the headline; it does not turn the statement into a crypto forecast.
