Wells Fargo announced its CEO Mobile Token on August 17, 2017, allowing Treasury Management customers to generate an RSA SecurID security code on an iPhone or Android smartphone instead of carrying a physical token. The service was originally used with Wells Fargo’s Commercial Electronic Office (CEO) portal and CEO Mobile service. The current app identity is different: Wells Fargo says CEO Mobile is now Wells Fargo Vantage, whose U.S. app-store listings advertise RSA mobile-token access from the sign-on screen.
What CEO Mobile Token was when it launched
Wells Fargo’s 2017 announcement described CEO Mobile Token as a smartphone-based RSA SecurID credential for Treasury Management customers. A user generated a security code on an iPhone or Android phone and used it as secondary authentication when completing transactions through the CEO portal or CEO Mobile service.
The announcement presented the mobile token as an alternative to carrying a physical token. Customers could choose either a mobile or physical token, and Wells Fargo said the token could be opened from the CEO Mobile app in one click without first logging in to the app. Those statements describe the August 2017 launch, not a guarantee that today’s setup screens or device requirements are identical.
Secil Watson, then head of Digital Solutions for Business at Wells Fargo, said in the announcement: “With the CEO Mobile Token, customers have a secure, convenient way to provide secondary authentication anytime they need to complete transactions.” The same release said about half of Wells Fargo’s customers needed a security token for certain services at that time; that was a 2017 figure, not a current usage statistic.

What the service is called now
Current U.S. Apple and Google Play listings state that “CEO Mobile® is now Wells Fargo Vantage®.” Those listings advertise access to an RSA mobile token from the app’s sign-on screen, along with features such as account access, check deposits, transfers, and selected deposit and wire tasks for eligible clients.
The listings were checked September 30, 2026; Google Play showed an update dated September 3, 2026. App features, supported devices, and enrollment steps can change, so the store description is a snapshot rather than a permanent specification.

Who can use Wells Fargo Vantage
Vantage is presented for Wells Fargo Vantage clients and the functions available to a user depend on the client’s entitlements and eligible device. It is not the general Wells Fargo app for every account holder.
- Personal and small-business customers are directed to Wells Fargo’s separate Wells Fargo Mobile app in the Apple listing.
- Treasury Management and other commercial users should follow the access and entitlement instructions associated with their organization’s Wells Fargo services.
- Seeing an app-store listing does not by itself establish that a particular account, transaction type, or device is eligible.
Can you use your phone instead of a Wells Fargo business banking token?
For an eligible Treasury Management or Vantage client, the mobile-token feature is designed to provide the security code on a smartphone rather than requiring the user to carry a physical RSA token. Whether it is available to you depends on Wells Fargo’s current enrollment rules, your organization’s entitlements, and the device you use.

Mobile versus physical token
| Question | Mobile token | Physical token |
|---|---|---|
| How the code is obtained | From the Wells Fargo Vantage sign-on experience, for eligible clients and devices. | From a separate RSA hardware token issued under the organization’s Wells Fargo arrangement. |
| Carrying the credential | Uses a smartphone already carried by the user. | Requires carrying the hardware token. |
| Setup information established by the sources | Current enrollment steps are not documented in the available material. | Wells Fargo continuity guidance dated 2020 said the physical token was needed to set up CEO Mobile Token. |
| Fallback when one method is unavailable | Availability depends on the phone, app, account entitlement, and Wells Fargo’s current recovery process. | The 2020 guidance described the installed mobile token as an alternative if the physical token later became unavailable. |
| Current compatible hardware model | Not stated. | Not established; do not assume a generic RSA token will work. |
The table’s physical-token setup details come from Wells Fargo continuity guidance marked copyright 2020. That document predates the Vantage branding and does not confirm the current enrollment process or a physical-token model compatible with Vantage.

What to do before changing phones or losing a token
- Confirm with your company’s Treasury Management administrator which Wells Fargo service and entitlements your user profile has.
- Check the current Wells Fargo Vantage listing and Wells Fargo’s current support instructions for device eligibility and enrollment requirements.
- Keep the existing authentication method available until Wells Fargo confirms that the replacement phone or mobile token is active.
- If your physical token is lost, your phone is unavailable, or enrollment fails, contact Wells Fargo Vantage or Treasury Management support rather than attempting to activate an unapproved hardware token.
What the 2017 announcement does—and does not—tell you
- It establishes the launch date, August 17, 2017, and the original CEO Mobile Token purpose.
- It establishes use of RSA SecurID codes for transactions through the CEO portal and CEO Mobile service.
- It records Wells Fargo’s 2017 choice between mobile and physical tokens.
- It does not establish current phone requirements, current enrollment screens, current recovery rules, or a currently purchasable compatible physical token.
The Bottom Line
CEO Mobile Token began as Wells Fargo’s 2017 smartphone alternative to a physical RSA SecurID token for Treasury Management users. Today, the relevant app is Wells Fargo Vantage, which advertises RSA mobile-token access for eligible clients. Because setup and device rules may have changed, confirm your organization’s current requirements with Wells Fargo Vantage or Treasury Management support before switching phones or buying any token.
