Short answer: the available evidence does not prove that WellHeater is a scam, but it also does not establish that any particular WellHeater model has Australian electrical approval. Before paying, identify the exact model and seller, and ask to see the heater’s Australian approval mark or number. A CE mark alone is not the Australian approval mark described in government guidance.
What the available evidence says about WellHeater
ProductReview.com.au displayed a rating of 1.2 from 42 reviews when accessed in 2026. That is a changeable snapshot of customer feedback, not a sales statistic, controlled product test or regulator finding. Reviewers report concerns including weak heating, unexpected quantities or charges, difficulty changing or cancelling orders, refund disputes, and plugs or adaptors. These accounts can help identify questions to ask, but they do not verify every allegation or show that every buyer or unit has the same experience. ProductReview.com.au reviews.
The evidence does not identify a specific Australian WellHeater model code, local responsible supplier or approval number. So neither the review score nor the available material settles whether a particular unit is compliant, performs as advertised, or makes the seller fraudulent.
Check Australian electrical approval before buying
NSW Government guidance says electric room heaters sold in Australia must be manufactured to Australian Standards. It advises buyers to look for an approval mark or number on the heater and states that CE is not a recognised Australian electrical safety approval mark. The guidance says: “If they cannot show it to you, do not buy the heater.” Read the full NSW Government electric room heater safety guidance.
#1 Best Overall
- Ask for the exact model and supplier. Request the model identifier and the name of the Australian supplier responsible for it.
- Request evidence of the Australian approval mark or number. Ask for a clear image of the mark on the heater or other documentation that demonstrates the approval. Do not treat a CE mark by itself as sufficient.
- Check the delivered unit. Compare the model and marking on the heater with what the seller showed you. If the mark is absent or differs, do not use the heater until you have resolved the issue with the seller or an appropriate authority.
Customer reports mentioning plugs, adaptors or safety leaflets are reasons to inspect the actual product and its documentation; they are not, on their own, proof of a formal non-compliance finding.
Review the order terms as carefully as the product
Before completing an online order, confirm the total delivered price, the number of heaters included, plug configuration, delivery terms and return or refund conditions. ProductReview reviewers describe problems involving some of these areas, but those accounts are anecdotal and do not establish how your order will be handled. Keep a copy of the listing, checkout total, order confirmation and the seller’s terms.

How to assess heating claims and compare alternatives
The available sources do not provide a controlled test of WellHeater’s heat output. Reports of weak heating should therefore be treated as customer experiences, not laboratory findings. Do not rely on advertised room coverage or energy-cost claims as independently verified performance facts.
When comparing portable electric room heaters, assess the exact model and traceable supplier, Australian approval marking, plug fit, rated power for your intended room, total delivered price, and clear delivery and return terms. A plug adaptor that creates a loose or unstable connection is a practical warning sign; do not use a heater with a damaged, loose or unsuitable connection.

Where to check recalls or raise a safety concern
ACCC Product Safety is Australia’s consumer product safety regulator and provides resources to search for recalls and report unsafe products. The material available for this article did not establish a WellHeater-specific recall or enforcement action; that is not a guarantee that no issue exists or will arise. Use the ACCC Product Safety website to check current recall information or report a concern.
Scamwatch offers general advice for online purchases, including checking an organisation’s official website and searching for reviews. Those general checks can help assess a seller, but they do not certify WellHeater as legitimate or fraudulent. See Scamwatch.
