The WBPSC Technical Officer (Textiles) application window is closed. Online applications for Advertisement No. 04/2024 ran from March 12 to April 2, 2024, and the offline fee deadline was April 3, 2024. This article is a reference record of that recruitment: what the post required, how many vacancies were advertised, and how the selection process moved on after applications closed. As of October 2026, the official listings describe a completed selection stage, not an open notice.

Current status: applications are closed

No application route for this post is open. The official indicative advertisement states that applications could be submitted only online, through the Public Service Commission, West Bengal website, psc.wb.gov.in, from March 12, 2024 onwards. That window has passed. Anyone searching for a “March 12” application date should treat it as a historical date.

The commission later published an interview schedule dated January 8, 2026, and a recommendation-for-appointment listing dated February 25, 2026. Those documents show how far the process went. They do not show whether every recommended candidate joined, or whether any further vacancies were filled.

Eligibility

The detailed advertisement gave two education-and-experience routes. A candidate needed to meet one of them, and both also required the language knowledge described below.

Route 1: degree plus two years of experience

  • A degree in Handloom or Textiles Technology from a university, college, or institute recognised by the relevant authority.
  • Two years of work experience in the textiles or handloom industry.

Route 2: diploma plus five years of experience

  • A diploma in Handloom or Textiles Technology from a recognised university, college, or institute.
  • Five years of relevant industry experience.

Bengali or Nepali language requirement

The detailed advertisement required knowledge of Bengali or Nepali, covering speaking and writing. Bengali ability was tested at interview, and the notice stated that performance in the Bengali knowledge test could affect a candidate’s candidature. The notice also provided an exception for candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali, as worded in the advertisement and unless specifically mentioned there. This is a requirement written into this particular notice. Do not assume the same test or wording applies to every WBPSC post.

Age limit

The upper age limit was 36 years, counted as on January 1, 2024. The detailed advertisement states that the upper limit for SC, ST and OBC candidates follows the applicable government rules. Check the detailed advertisement itself for the exact relaxation that applied to each category, rather than relying on a summary.

Pay and post status

The detailed advertisement described the post as permanent, at pay level 12, with a pay range of Rs. 35,800–92,100 under the WBS (ROPA) Rules, 2019. That range is the figure stated in the 2024 notice. It does not reflect any later pay revision, allowances, or deductions, so it should not be read as take-home pay.

What happened after applications closed

Interview schedule, January 2026

The commission’s interview schedule, dated January 8, 2026, gave interview dates of January 13 and 14, 2026 for the candidates it listed. Being on that schedule meant a candidate had reached the interview stage. It did not, on its own, determine the final outcome.

Recommendation for appointment, February 2026

The commission’s announcement listing, dated February 25, 2026, records a recommendation for appointment to the posts. That confirms the selection process reached its recommendation stage. It does not confirm that each recommended candidate has joined, is currently employed, or that the number of posts filled matches the 27 advertised.

Syllabus and answer key

The commission’s website lists a syllabus and a final answer key for the Technical Officer (Textiles) MCQ paper. The syllabus content is not summarised here, so the subjects and paper structure should be checked directly on the commission’s listing.

Where to check official information

  • The Public Service Commission, West Bengal website, psc.wb.gov.in, is the source for the advertisement, the interview schedule, the recommendation listing, the syllabus and the answer key.
  • The detailed advertisement, not the indicative notice, is the reference for eligibility, age relaxation, language rules and pay.
  • Dates in this article come from the 2024 notices and the 2026 commission listings. Confirm any date against the commission’s current listings before relying on it.
