The West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) has published the recommendation list for General Duty Medical Officer (GDMO) posts under Advertisement No. 06/2023. The list is dated 19 May 2025 and recommends 242 candidates for 242 posts in the West Bengal ESI Medical Service. The official PDF is linked in the steps below.
How to download the official WBPSC GDMO list
- Open the official recommendation PDF at WBPSC’s recommendation list (PDF).
- Check the heading. It should refer to the Commission’s Advt. no. 6/2023 and be dated 19 May 2025. Those two details confirm you have the right document.
- If the direct file link does not open, go to the official WBPSC results page and look for the GDMO listing for Advt. No. 06/2023.
- To find your own entry, open the PDF and search it with Ctrl+F (Cmd+F on a Mac) for your roll number. The list is arranged by roll number and vacancy category.

The notice describes the posts as “temporary but likely to be permanent posts.” It is the Commission’s own wording, so use it when quoting the notice.
Reserved-category figures in the notice
The notice breaks out reserved vacancies as follows:
| Category | Posts reserved |

| ST | 7 |
| OBC-A (NCL) | 43 |
| OBC-B (NCL) | 17 |

These five figures add up to 140. They do not account for all 242 posts, so do not read them as a complete allocation. The notice figures reported here do not describe how the remaining 102 posts are classified. Check the PDF’s own listing for the category shown against each roll number.
#1 Best Overall
“Recommended for appointment” is not the same as joined
The notice says the candidates are “recommended for appointment.” A name on this list shows a recommendation, not a completed appointment. The sources reviewed for this article do not describe the steps after recommendation, such as document checks, medical examination or joining. For those, rely on the Commission and the original advertisement rather than on this list alone.
Why the list says 2023 and 2025
The “2023” in the headline comes from the recruitment reference. Advertisement No. 06/2023 is the original call for applications. The recommendation list itself was published in 2025, and the PDF’s file name carries that 2025 date. When you cite the result, give both: the advertisement year and the list date.

Earlier screening test (historical context)
The screening stage of this recruitment was scheduled for 25 February 2024, and the Commission said e-admit cards would be downloadable from 15 February 2024. These are past dates and do not give current instructions. The written test followed this format:
- 100 multiple-choice questions
- 100 marks
- 90 minutes
- One-quarter mark deducted for each wrong answer
Eligibility stated in the advertisement
The advertisement required a qualifying medical qualification and registration as a medical practitioner in West Bengal. This is a summary only. Read the original Advertisement No. 06/2023 on the WBPSC site for the full conditions, including any requirements that apply to the reserved categories.
