The available disclosure does not confirm that a ₹10.07 crore GST demand against Rane Steering Systems Private Limited was dropped. Rane Holdings Limited reported that its wholly owned subsidiary received show-cause notices and planned to respond; the filing does not record a final order or a later resolution.
What Rane Holdings disclosed
In a disclosure dated September 25, 2026, Rane Holdings Limited said that its wholly owned subsidiary, Rane Steering Systems Private Limited (RSSL), received communications on September 24, 2026. The communications were show-cause notices issued by the Assistant Commissioner (ST), Royapettah South-I, Chennai. Rane Holdings’ disclosure

The notices concern alleged ineligible input tax credit under section 17(5) of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. They relate to financial years 2022-23 and 2023-24 and were issued under section 73 of the Act. These are allegations set out in notices, not a finding that the credit was definitively ineligible.
What the ₹10.07 crore figure means
Rane Holdings described ₹10.07 crore, including a ₹0.92 crore penalty, as the expected financial implications of the notices. The disclosure does not identify that figure as a final adjudicated demand or confirmed amount payable. It should therefore be reported as the company’s stated exposure at the show-cause stage, not as a liability already imposed by a final order.

What happened next, according to the filing
RSSL said it would submit a suitable reply to the appropriate authority within the prescribed timelines, in consultation with its consultants and tax advisers. The disclosure does not confirm that the reply was filed, or report any subsequent decision. Without a later company filing or the adjudication order for these notices, whether the ₹10.07 crore matter was dropped remains unverified.

A separate report describes an earlier RSSL proceeding in which an order dated November 10, 2025 reportedly reduced a ₹20.21 crore show-cause notice to ₹1.09 lakh. The report on that earlier proceeding concerns a different matter. Its figures and outcome do not establish what happened to the notices disclosed in September 2026.
