No. Lipton Peach Ice Tea was not discontinued in 2025. The notice that prompted customer complaints was an April Fools prank, and Lipton has since confirmed the flavour is staying. The UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) later upheld a complaint, finding that the original posts were likely to make people think the discontinuation was real.
What happened with Lipton Peach Ice Tea?
On March 18, 2025, Lipton posted on Instagram and TikTok that its Peach Ice Tea was “getting discontinued,” apologizing for the inconvenience and suggesting it might return in the future. The wording appeared to announce a real product withdrawal.
According to the ASA’s account, Lipton said it had planned to reveal the joke on April 1. After negative comments, it posted a clarification on March 19 saying the announcement was a prank. Lipton’s UK FAQ now answers “Is Peach Ice Tea really being discontinued?” with a clear no and says the flavour is here to stay: Lipton UK FAQ. Why did the announcement upset customers?
The posts were phrased like a genuine discontinuation notice rather than an obvious joke. The ASA said consumers were likely to understand them as meaning the tea was being discontinued, creating the impression that they had limited time to buy it before stocks ran out. It upheld the complaint on July 9, 2025: ASA ruling.
