- Learn about the role and business. Review the cabin crew page and the specific advert before applying.
- Submit an application. The careers page says applicants provide personal details and a CV, and may be asked application questions.
- Complete an online situational judgement test if invited. An invitation depends on the campaign process.
- Attend an assessment day. Virgin Atlantic’s general recruitment guidance says interviews may include behavioural questions about particular work situations and biographical questions about your CV and employment history.
- Receive an offer and contract if successful. Applicants should then complete pre-employment checks.
- Attend training. The cabin crew page describes four-and-a-half weeks of training in Crawley, West Sussex.
For broader advice, Virgin Atlantic’s application and assessment guidance recommends tailoring a cover letter, explaining your motivation and relevant skills, and quoting the job reference when known. - Choose specific examples from customer service, teamwork, safety, or a high-pressure situation.
- For each example, be ready to explain what was happening, what you did, why you chose that approach, and what happened next.
- Think through how you communicate instructions, support colleagues and respond when a customer or situation needs attention.
- Read the live advert carefully so your examples and application address that campaign’s stated criteria.
What are the pay, leave and benefits?
Virgin Atlantic says cabin crew pay comprises base pay, trip pay and commission, with cash subsistence allowances when crew are away on route. The page reviewed does not state a numeric salary, so applicants should not assume a specific annual amount from those components alone.
The employer lists annual leave starting at 28 days, a contributory pension, flexible benefits, meal allowances during hotel stays, travel concessions and roster request options. Some benefits are subject to a six-month qualifying period. Virgin Atlantic also says non-contractual benefits may be changed or withdrawn.
