Yes, Walmart’s Onn Google TV 4K Plus was a real product. Units appeared on Walmart shelves in May 2025 at a reported $29.88 (often rounded to $30), including at least one store in central Iowa. That sighting confirmed the budget 4K Google TV box was moving from listing to retail—but it did not mean every Walmart had stock or that the price remains current in August 2026.
The most notable upgrade is a USB-C port that can work with compatible hubs, including one demonstration adding Ethernet. The box otherwise targets shoppers who want inexpensive Google TV hardware rather than premium performance.
What the shelf sighting actually established
Contemporary reports from 9to5Google and Chrome Unboxed documented the Onn Google TV 4K Plus on physical Walmart shelves in May 2025. The reported shelf price was $29.88 before tax. A Walmart web listing had appeared earlier, so the in-store units suggested a rollout was beginning.
That was a limited retail observation, not proof of nationwide availability. A product can be shelved before a store enables checkout, and inventory can differ by location. If you are shopping now, check Walmart’s current search results or ask an associate to scan the box. The May 2025 reports do not verify August 2026 stock or pricing.

What you get for the reported $29.88
| Feature | Reported detail |
|---|---|
| Interface | Google TV |
| Video output | 4K; Dolby Vision was listed in Walmart-listing coverage |
| Software | Observed running Android 14 |
| Memory | 2GB RAM |
| Storage | 16GB total; about 11GB reported usable |
| Wireless | Wi-Fi 6, according to earlier Walmart-listing coverage |
| Processor | Quad-core, according to the listing coverage |
| Connections | HDMI and USB-C; no built-in Ethernet was reported |
| Audio | Dolby Atmos was listed in Walmart-listing coverage |
| Remote | Voice remote with a dedicated Free TV button; 9to5Google reported it is not backlit |
| In the box | HDMI cable and power cable |
The specifications come from the early listing and shelf reports, not independent benchmark testing. Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos also depend on your television, receiver or soundbar, HDMI chain, streaming app, content and subscription.
Why USB-C is the important difference
Unlike many low-cost streamers that use a power-only connector, the 4K Plus uses USB-C and reportedly accepts USB-C hubs or dongles. A demonstration covered by 9to5Google used a dongle to add Ethernet.

That can help if Wi-Fi is unreliable or you want to connect accessories, but it is not the same as having an Ethernet jack or a guaranteed docking station. Compatibility varies by hub, Ethernet chipset and attached devices; some combinations may exceed the streamer’s available power. Choose an adapter that explicitly supports USB-C data, provide adequate power, and keep the receipt in case it does not work.
Onn 4K Plus versus Onn 4K Pro
| Onn Google TV 4K Plus | Onn 4K Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Reported price context | $29.88 in May 2025 | Previously described as a $50 model |
| Positioning | Entry-level 4K Google TV box | More premium Onn tier |
| Memory and storage | 2GB RAM; 16GB total, about 11GB usable | Not stated in the cited reports |
| Networking | USB-C expansion; Ethernet requires an adapter | More hardware features, according to the comparison coverage |
The Plus is a lower-cost option, not a documented replacement for the Pro. Pick the Pro if its additional hardware matters more than the roughly $20 difference described in the launch coverage. There is no independent speed or reliability test here supporting a claim that either model is faster.

How it fits against Google’s devices and Roku
The 4K Plus arrived after Google discontinued Chromecast with Google TV and positioned the pricier Google TV Streamer as its Google-branded option. The Onn box’s reported 16GB capacity—about 11GB usable—was substantially more generous than the older Chromecast with Google TV’s storage, while its reported price was about $20 below the former Chromecast with Google TV 4K price. Chromecast with Google TV is discontinued, so treat it as an older comparison rather than a current primary choice.
Buyers who prefer another ecosystem can consider the Roku Streaming Stick 4K or Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K. Roku suits households that prefer Roku’s interface; Fire TV suits Alexa- and Amazon-focused homes. Neither is a like-for-like Google TV experience, and current prices were not established by the launch reports.

Who should consider it
- Owners of a secondary, bedroom, guest-room or older 4K television.
- Shoppers seeking the lowest reported price for Google TV hardware.
- People who want more app space than the discontinued Chromecast with Google TV offered.
- Users who may benefit from wired networking through a compatible USB-C adapter.
Who should look elsewhere
- Anyone requiring built-in Ethernet with no extra adapter.
- Buyers expecting a backlit remote or premium hardware.
- People who need guaranteed external-storage, keyboard, controller or hub compatibility.
- Homes running demanding local-media, gaming or very high-bitrate network setups.
- Anyone who needs verified current inventory rather than a historical 2025 shelf report.
Buying and setup checks
- Confirm the listing or barcode. If a shelf unit cannot be purchased, ask an associate to scan it; staged inventory may not yet be enabled for checkout.
- Check your television. It needs a suitable HDMI input. Confirm HDR and audio support across the TV, sound system and apps.
- Plan storage realistically. The reported 16GB is total capacity, with approximately 11GB usable for apps and data.
- Add wired networking only if needed. Use a compatible USB-C data hub or Ethernet adapter and account for its power requirements.
- Budget the real cost. The historical $29.88 figure excludes sales tax and any adapter; promotions, local pricing and later product changes can alter the total.
Bottom line for budget shoppers
The Onn Google TV 4K Plus was a genuine May 2025 Walmart product, and its reported $29.88 price made it an unusually inexpensive route to 4K Google TV. USB-C hub support gives it flexibility rarely associated with this price tier, but Ethernet is an add-on, storage is about 11GB usable, and the available evidence does not establish premium performance or long-term support. Treat the shelf story as historical and verify Walmart’s live listing before spending money.
