Walmart’s first 2024 Holiday Deals event ran October 8–13, 2024, and has ended. Paid Walmart+ members could shop online 12 hours before the general public; stores joined the event the next day. The prices below are historical examples announced for that sale, not current offers.
When did Walmart’s October 2024 early access event start?
Walmart announced the six-day Holiday Deals event on September 19, 2024. The online event began for paid Walmart+ members at 12 a.m. ET on October 8. All customers could shop online starting at 12 p.m. ET that day, giving members a 12-hour head start. In-store shopping began October 9 at each store’s local opening time. Walmart said the event included products sold by Walmart and Walmart Marketplace. Walmart’s announcement provides the historical schedule.

How did it differ from Walmart’s later holiday sales?
The October Holiday Deals event was separate from Walmart’s later Black Friday and Cyber Monday program. Walmart announced that program on October 28, 2024, with different dates and member access windows:
| Event | Scheduled start | Paid Walmart+ early access |
|---|---|---|
| First online Black Friday event | November 11, 2024 | Five hours before the general start |
| Second online Black Friday event | November 25, 2024 | Five hours before the general start |
| Cyber Monday deals | December 1, 2024 | Three hours before the general start |
Those later dates and access periods come from Walmart’s separate Black Friday and Cyber Monday announcement. Its product examples—including a Samsung television, Apple iPhone 13, Beats headphones, LEGO Friends set, and Shark and Dyson vacuums—were for the later events, not the October sale.

Does Walmart+ still offer early access to deals?
Walmart’s current Help Center says paid Walmart+ members get first access to deals during Black Friday and other sale events, and advises members to check their email for event-specific early-access news. That general guidance does not establish a schedule for a future sale; Walmart’s September 2024 release is the source for the October event’s exact times. See Walmart’s membership benefits guidance.

Walmart said the event was intended to serve customers preparing for the holidays early. Its September 19 release quoted Latriece Watkins, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, Walmart U.S.: “We know many of our customers are beginning to prepare for their holiday celebrations early, and we’ve adapted our approach to best meet their needs.” The same release cited Bankrate for the claim that nearly 50% of consumers would start holiday shopping as early as August and September; that figure is attributed to Bankrate, not presented as Walmart’s own survey.
