Waffle House’s temporary egg surcharge was 50 cents per egg ordered. The chain announced it in February 2025 amid sharp egg-price swings and shortage conditions, then removed it effective June 2, 2025. The fee is no longer in effect according to the company’s removal announcement and contemporaneous reporting.
Does Waffle House still charge extra for eggs?
No. Waffle House removed the surcharge effective June 2, 2025. The company’s newsroom archive lists the removal announcement, and the Associated Press reported the cancellation on July 3, 2025. The available reporting establishes the fee’s removal; it does not establish that Waffle House has brought it back since then.
Waffle House’s newsroom archive is the primary company source for the removal notice. The Associated Press report independently confirms the end date.
How much was the Waffle House egg surcharge?
The announced fee was 50 cents for each egg ordered, across Waffle House menus. It took effect immediately when announced in February 2025. Because the charge was per egg, the total depended on how many eggs a customer ordered.

|---|---|
| $6.23 per dozen | March 2025 U.S. average retail price for Grade A eggs, citing the Bureau of Labor Statistics as reported by AP. |
| $4.55 per dozen | May 2025 U.S. retail average; AP reported it was the lowest since December 2024. |
Both figures were reported in the AP account of the surcharge’s removal. AP attributed the March figure to the Bureau of Labor Statistics; its May figure should be attributed to AP, not separately to BLS.
