In early January 2024, Western Australian shoppers shared unusually low-priced Kmart clearance finds, including a reported 51-item haul for $22.50 at Garden City and Christmas baubles priced at 5 cents at Wanneroo. These were shopper accounts tied to particular stores—not a current offer or a price available across every Kmart.
What WA shoppers reported finding
PerthNow reported the accounts on 2 January 2024. One shopper said they bought 51 items for $22.50 at Kmart Garden City. Another reportedly found Christmas baubles for 5 cents at Kmart Wanneroo. The figures describe individual shoppers’ purchases and finds at those locations; they do not establish a standard Kmart price.
How the wider clearance coverage differed
Also on 2 January 2024, 7NEWS described a broader Kmart clearance event involving more than 2,200 products across homewares, furniture, clothing, technology, toys, larger items and Christmas stock. The coverage included reports of some items priced at 10 cents, but its LED Cube Light example came from a Queensland-store social-media post, not a Western Australian purchase. The article did not identify a model for that light.
7NEWS also relayed a separate shopper account of four trolley loads and 100 items for $20. That is an anecdotal report, not an independently verified price or a measure of what shoppers generally paid.

Were 10-cent Kmart clearance items available at every WA store?
No. The January 2024 coverage described prices and stock that varied by store, and some shoppers said the bargains were not available at their local location. A low price reported from one store cannot be assumed to apply elsewhere—or to the same store at another time.
What to check before treating a clearance price as a deal
The 2024 hauls are historical examples. For a purchase now, check the current listing or ask the local store to confirm the exact item, displayed price and availability. Compare the price with what you would otherwise pay, and check the applicable returns policy and any conditions tied to the product.

Kmart Australia’s Online Exclusives Clearance page describes a changing assortment across categories including furniture, homewares, outdoor, fitness, toys and camping. Kmart says, “Stock can move quickly, so it doesn’t stick around for long.” That is guidance about the current online range, not evidence that the old in-store prices are available now. The page also says possible returns depend on the product and returns policy, so do not assume every clearance item has the same return terms.
