Volvo’s 2017 annual report confirms that Care by Volvo launched as a subscription service available to buyers of the new XC40. It does not confirm that subscribers received a new SUV every year. The report also does not give the 2018 offer’s price, term, mileage limit, included services, or vehicle-change rules, so the headline’s annual-replacement promise cannot be treated as an established lease benefit.
What Volvo’s official record confirms
Volvo Cars’ 2017 annual report places the XC40 reveal and Care by Volvo launch in September 2017. It describes Care by Volvo as a subscription service available to buyers of the new XC40. That establishes the historical connection between the vehicle and the service, but not the specific terms of a 2018 offer.
Did subscribers get a new SUV every year?
The annual report does not say that Care by Volvo subscribers could replace their XC40 with a new SUV every year. It supplies no annual vehicle-replacement statistic or contract language establishing that right. Without the original 2018 offer or contract, the phrase “new SUV every year” remains unverified—not a confirmed benefit that a buyer could rely on.
What to check before comparing it with a lease
Care by Volvo was described as a subscription, not simply identified as a conventional lease. To evaluate the 2018 offer against a lease, a prospective customer would need the actual offer documents and the terms that affect total cost and flexibility:
