Volaris treats a minor spelling or detail correction differently from replacing the ticketed traveler. The airline says minor corrections are free and handled through WhatsApp or its social channels; changing the passenger is a paid request made through My Trips, if the reservation qualifies. Volaris lists deadlines of four hours before departure for domestic flights and 72 hours for international flights. Check the options and price shown for your booking before acting.
First decide whether you need a correction or a passenger change
| Request | When it applies | How Volaris handles it | Fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minor name correction | The same person is traveling, but the name has a typo or detail error. | Contact Volaris through WhatsApp or its social channels, as described in its name-change guidance. | Volaris describes the correction as free. |
| Passenger substitution | A different person will travel on the booking. | Use My Trips and select Name Change if the option appears for the reservation. See Volaris’s itinerary-change instructions. | A fee applies; the booking must be eligible. |
Volaris’s Spanish guidance says the ticket name should match official identification for domestic travel and passport or visa details for international travel. Check the confirmation after any correction to make sure the reservation reflects the traveler’s document details.
How to correct a minor typo or name detail
- Contact Volaris through WhatsApp or one of the airline’s social channels.
- Explain that the same traveler remains on the booking and request a correction to the name detail.
- After Volaris processes the request, review the reservation confirmation and verify the name against the traveler’s identification.
Volaris’s official guidance says a minor correction is free. Its English Fly Flexible wording is: “Is there an error in your name? Correct a character or detail in your name at no additional cost.”
How to change the passenger on a booking
- Open My Trips on the Volaris website and enter the reservation code and last name.
- Choose Modify Your Flight, then select Name Change if it is available.
- Enter the new passenger’s required details and accept the applicable terms.
- Review the amount shown for this reservation and pay the applicable charge.
- Complete the email-code validation step described in the name-change terms, then wait for the confirmation email.
The terms say the original customer must provide the new passenger’s information and consent, pay the fee, and complete validation. Volaris’s published instructions give the cutoff as four hours before departure on domestic flights and 72 hours before departure on international flights.

What the change costs
Volaris’s rename-service FAQ lists starting prices of MXN 400 for domestic flights and USD 20 for international flights, plus applicable taxes. These are starting amounts, not guaranteed totals. Volaris says charges vary by route type; the final amount and whether the option is available depend on the reservation. Check the price in My Trips rather than assuming the listed starting price is your quote. The airline describes minor corrections as free.
When a passenger change may not be available
Volaris says not all passengers or bookings qualify. If an eligible reservation supports the service, a Name Change button appears in the booking. Its Spanish itinerary guidance lists exclusions that include bookings purchased with a Volaris electronic voucher, a flight segment that has started or was missed, and changing an adult ticket to a minor or an unaccompanied adult.

How late can you request the change?
For passenger name changes, Volaris states a deadline of four hours before departure for domestic flights and 72 hours before departure for international flights. Its Spanish guidance states: “Puedes cambiar el nombre en tu boleto hasta 4 horas antes de tu vuelo si es nacional y 72 horas antes si es internacional.” Volaris provides the cutoff as a deadline for the name change; submit the request early enough to complete payment and email-code validation before it.
