His presidential campaign published a crypto framework centered on developer protections, self-custody and limits on federal regulators; his current Ohio campaign homepage instead foregrounds affordability, taxes, energy costs, education, public safety and unity. That is a shift in public emphasis—not proof that he has abandoned crypto.
How the crypto messages differ
| Dimension | 2023 presidential bid | Ohio gubernatorial campaign |
|---|---|---|
| Headline prominence | Released an explicit crypto policy framework, summarized by Axios on November 17, 2023. | Crypto is absent from the headline policy priorities on the current Vivek for Ohio homepage; the site foregrounds affordability and opportunity, tax and energy-bill relief, education, public safety and unity. |
| Policy content | The framework treated code as speech, affirmed self-custody and called for regulators to stand down, according to Axios. | The homepage emphasizes state issues rather than a comparable crypto policy plank; a complete current platform inventory is not established by the homepage. |
| Campaign activity | Crypto was presented as a named policy area. | Cointelegraph reports that Ramaswamy spoke at Bitcoin for America in March 2025 and Bitcoin 2025 in May 2025, after launching his gubernatorial campaign. Those appearances do not make crypto a defining Ohio campaign issue. |
| Operational engagement | A policy framework was part of the campaign’s public offer. | The Ohio homepage offers a crypto donation option. Accepting donations in crypto is an operational choice, not the same thing as making crypto a policy priority. |
What Ramaswamy proposed on crypto as a presidential candidate
In November 2023, Ramaswamy’s presidential campaign released a crypto policy framework. Axios described its core positions as treating code as speech, defending the right to self-custody and standing down regulators. Those points put crypto regulation and users’ ability to hold assets themselves in the foreground of his presidential message.
Axios also quoted a campaign statement in which Ramaswamy said: “Since the inception of crypto, the shadow government in the administrative state in Washington, D.C., and its cronies on Wall Street have tried to quash its rise.” The statement continued: “That ends on my watch.” Those were campaign-statement claims about federal government and Wall Street, not descriptions of Ohio state policy.
What Ohio voters see in the governor campaign
The current Vivek for Ohio homepage leads with affordability and opportunity and highlights relief from taxes and energy bills, education, public safety and unity. That contrast with a standalone presidential crypto framework supports a narrower conclusion: crypto is less prominent in the campaign’s current headline presentation.

There was a crypto reference at the campaign’s launch. The Associated Press reported on February 24, 2025, that Ramaswamy named bitcoin alongside semiconductor production, nuclear energy and biotechnology as industries that could contribute to Ohio’s future growth. AP also reported his pledges to require work for Medicaid and introduce merit pay in education, as well as his promise to eliminate income and property taxes. Bitcoin’s appearance in that list means it would be inaccurate to say he never mentioned it in his Ohio campaign; it does not establish a detailed Ohio crypto policy.
Has he stopped talking about crypto?
No. Cointelegraph reports that Ramaswamy spoke at Bitcoin for America in March 2025 and Bitcoin 2025 in May 2025, after entering the governor’s race. The outlet characterized his public digital-asset statements as having waned by September 2026. That is Cointelegraph’s assessment, not a measured count of every speech, post or interview.

The campaign’s crypto donation option is another sign of continued practical engagement, but it says little on its own about the role crypto plays in Ramaswamy’s Ohio policy agenda. Conference appearances and donation acceptance are distinct from a prominent, detailed campaign plank.

The comparison is between the presidential campaign’s explicit 2023 framework and the Ohio campaign’s current headline materials, supplemented by reporting on launch remarks and later public appearances. It establishes a difference in prominence and emphasis. It does not establish a change in Ramaswamy’s private beliefs, prove that crypto is absent from every Ohio campaign statement, or provide a complete inventory of the campaign’s policy positions.
The Ohio Republican Party reported that a June 27, 2026 post drawing attention to Ramaswamy’s ten-point Ohio agenda had more than 211,000 views. That is the party’s reported post-view count—not an independent audience measurement and not evidence of statewide support or voter persuasion.
