Khosla criticized ICE and the administration, but TechCrunch reported that he did not directly chastise Rabois. The exchange was a public disagreement among colleagues; the cited coverage does not establish that Rabois was disciplined or left the firm.
What Keith Rabois said about Alex Pretti
After Pretti was killed by a federal agent in Minneapolis, Rabois posted comments defending federal agents and blaming Pretti, according to TechCrunch’s January 26, 2026 report. The outlet quoted Rabois writing: “no law enforcement has shot an innocent person. illegals are committing violent crimes every day.” Those are Rabois’ reported assertions, not independently verified facts about law enforcement or crime. How Ethan Choi and Vinod Khosla responded
Choi said Rabois did not speak for everyone at the firm
Choi, a Khosla Ventures partner, publicly distanced himself from Rabois’ position. TechCrunch reproduced Choi’s post: “I want to make it clear that Keith doesn’t represent everyone’s views here at @khoslaventures, at least not mine. What happened in Minnesota is plain wrong. Don’t know how you could really see it differently. Sad to see a person’s life taken unnecessarily.” TechCrunch
Khosla agreed with Choi and criticized ICE
Khosla then posted that he agreed with Choi. TechCrunch reproduced his words: “I agree with @EthanChoi7. Macho ICE vigilantes running amuck empowered by a conscious-less administration.” The post continued: “The video was sickening to watch and the storytelling without facts or with invented fictitious facts by authorities almost unimaginable in a civilized society.” These are Khosla’s characterizations, as reproduced by TechCrunch; the report notes that the post included a continuation link. What “disavows” means in this case
Khosla’s public agreement with Choi aligned him against Rabois’ comments, but it was not a direct reprimand of Rabois. TechCrunch specifically drew that distinction. The Washington Post also described the responses as public disagreement among colleagues at Khosla Ventures. Neither report establishes a formal sanction, a change in Rabois’ role, or his departure from the firm. The Washington Post
