Yes—but not as a universal, permanent restoration. In August 2025, some Verizon postpaid customers reportedly received new retention credits, commonly $10 or $20 per line per month for 12 months, shortly after the carrier said certain existing loyalty discounts would end. The offers appeared to be targeted and account-specific, and Verizon did not publicly confirm that requesting a Number Transfer PIN guaranteed a discount.
Verizon’s official June 2026 Verizon Loyalty program is a separate initiative. It offers rewards and fee waivers rather than proof that every expired $10- or $20-per-line credit was restored.
What happened to Verizon’s loyalty discounts?
The 2025 episode followed changes to Verizon’s pricing and benefits. Some long-term customers were told that recurring loyalty credits would expire. Customers with several lines reported bill increases of $40 to $100 or more, according to the August 7, 2025 report from Droid Life. Those figures describe reported individual experiences, not a Verizon-wide average.
Soon afterward, some customers said Verizon displayed new retention offers while they were obtaining a Number Transfer PIN. The reported offers were generally temporary: examples included up to $20 per line each month for 12 months. Other customers reported $10-per-line credits, no offer, manual review, or a credit that appeared only after a billing delay.

That supports a narrow conclusion: Verizon appeared to provide targeted replacement offers to at least some customers. It does not establish that the old policy was permanently reinstated for everyone.
“Back” can mean three different things
- A new retention credit: a temporary offer intended to keep a particular account.
- Restoration of an old credit: the original recurring discount returns under its previous terms.
- A permanent companywide policy: every similarly situated customer receives the benefit going forward.
The available reporting supports the first description. The commonly cited offer lasted 12 months and varied by account, rather than demonstrating either of the latter two outcomes. See the original account of the offers at Droid Life.
How the reported transfer-PIN workflow worked
- Sign in to My Verizon or Verizon’s website.
- Begin the process for requesting a Number Transfer PIN.
- Review any retention message or offer shown before completing a port-out.
- Save the terms and cancel the process unless you genuinely intend to transfer your number.
This was a customer-reported retention workflow, not a confirmed Verizon eligibility rule. A Number Transfer PIN is part of preparing to move a number to another carrier; it is not a coupon button and does not guarantee a credit. Never complete a port-out unless you actually intend to switch.
Why customers saw different results
Reports varied by account and timing. Possible factors included plan and line eligibility, account tenure, Verizon’s retention targeting, whether a prior credit had expired, and the account’s billing cycle. Customer discussions also describe inconsistent support answers and delayed posting:

What Verizon officially offers now
On June 16, 2026, Verizon announced Verizon Loyalty, an opt-in program for postpaid customers on eligible phone and connected-device plans. Verizon says participants can receive:
- 3% back each month in Verizon Dollars.
- Waived activation and upgrade fees, described by Verizon as savings of up to $40 per device.
- Access to Verizon Shine daily and weekly rewards.
Enrollment is handled through the My Verizon app. Verizon Dollars are a rewards currency—not cash automatically deducted from the bill—and redemption is subject to program rules. The announcement does not say that all loyalty discounts removed in 2025 were restored.
2025 retention credit vs. 2026 Verizon Loyalty
| Feature | Reported 2025 retention offer | Official 2026 Loyalty program |
|---|---|---|
| Evidence | Customer reports and secondary coverage | Verizon announcement |
| Typical value | $10 or $20 per line monthly in reported examples | 3% back monthly in Verizon Dollars |
| Duration | Often 12 months | Ongoing program subject to terms |
| Eligibility | Targeted and inconsistent | Verizon says it is available across postpaid plans, subject to program eligibility |
| Trigger | Often associated with transfer-PIN activity | Opt-in through My Verizon |
| Main value | Monthly bill reduction | Rewards plus fee waivers |
How to check an offer without relying on a promise
- Check the account first. Look in My Verizon, email, and recent notices for a promotion or expiration date.
- Ask what lines qualify. Confirm whether phones, tablets, watches, and other connected devices are included.
- Get the terms. Record the monthly amount, start date, end date, promotion name or code, and whether the credit is recurring or one-time.
- Ask about conditions. Verify requirements for plan changes, upgrades, autopay, paperless billing, or combining employer, military, nurse, teacher, and other discounts.
- Confirm what does not change. Taxes, surcharges, device payments, and administrative charges may remain the same.
- Document approval. Save screenshots and ask support to place the promotion ID and terms in the account notes.
- Check the next bill. If the credit is missing, request correction rather than assuming it will appear later.
When staying with Verizon may or may not pay
A temporary credit
A $20 credit on six lines is worth $120 per month during the offer, while the same credit on two lines is worth $40. Compare the actual account total, not the headline amount. The principal drawbacks are the 12-month expiration, uncertain renewal, possible loss after a plan change, and inconsistent documentation.

Verizon’s newer plans
Verizon’s press-release index lists signals of a Simplicity plan at $45 per line and Verizon One at $70 for a combined mobile-and-home bill. Those figures require qualification for taxes, fees, line count, eligibility, and plan terms; see Verizon’s media center. A lower base price can outweigh a temporary credit, but changing plans may remove grandfathered perks, hotspot or streaming benefits, upgrade eligibility, or existing promotions.
Prepaid or another carrier
Prepaid can suit customers who want predictable pricing and do not need postpaid financing or premium features. Verizon documents its prepaid loyalty discount and reactivation rules at its prepaid support page. A carrier switch may lower the long-term bill, but check coverage, device-unlock status, remaining installment balances, taxes, autopay requirements, and whether a promotion requires repayment.
Compare at least 12 months of the all-in cost, including device payments and lost benefits. Do not treat an advertised plan price as the amount you will actually pay.

Record the first and final discounted bill dates and set a reminder about 30 days before expiration. At that point compare Verizon’s post-discount total with current Verizon plans, prepaid service, competitor offers, and the cost of remaining device payments. A temporary credit can delay a pricing decision; it should not replace one.

Important discount terms
Verizon’s customer agreement says customers may qualify for discounts tied to professions or organizations and that Verizon may adjust or remove those discounts when eligibility ends or an applicable agreement expires. That language concerns eligibility-based discounts, not proof of the separate 2025 retention-credit policy. Review the agreement at Verizon’s customer agreement PDF.
If support gives contradictory answers, request the exact promotion code, effective date, expiration date, covered lines, and any pending-review status in writing. If the account is not corrected, use Verizon’s formal support and dispute channels before considering escalation; relevant terms are available at Verizon’s terms page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does requesting a Verizon Number Transfer PIN guarantee a loyalty discount?
No. Customers reported seeing retention offers during that workflow, but Verizon did not confirm it as an automatic eligibility procedure.
Are the old $10 or $20 Verizon credits permanently restored?
The reported 2025 offers were generally temporary, often lasting 12 months. There is no evidence that every expired credit was permanently restored.
Is Verizon Loyalty the same as the 2025 retention discount?
No. Verizon Loyalty is an official 2026 rewards program centered on Verizon Dollars, fee waivers, and Shine rewards; it is not confirmation that prior recurring credits returned.
