Verizon’s 2024 holiday bundle was real, but the devices were not unconditional gifts—and the promotion has expired. Verizon offered eligible customers an iPhone 16 Pro, Apple Watch Series 10 and 10th-generation iPad, or an Android phone with companion devices, through 36 months of promotional bill credits. Customers still needed qualifying Verizon service, separate watch and tablet lines, taxes and fees, and a willingness to remain eligible for the full three years.
This article explains the former offer and its economics. It is not a current 2026 promotion.
What Verizon’s 2024 holiday bundle included
Verizon’s main Apple offer paired an iPhone 16 Pro (128GB) with an Apple Watch Series 10 and a 10th-generation iPad. Verizon advertised up to $2,000 in combined promotional value.
Android customers could choose between two broadly similar bundles:

The precise Android companion models could depend on the promotion page and inventory. Verizon’s terms described the smartphone purchases at $999.99, with promotional credits covering up to $1,000 over 36 months. The watch and tablet each had up to $549.99 in promotional value under the Android offers.

Was the phone actually free?
Only if you completed the promotion. “Free” meant that monthly bill credits could offset the financed device payment over 36 months. It did not mean that Verizon handed over a phone with no account obligations.
For the $999.99 iPhone 16 Pro, a simple illustration is:

- Potential promotional credit: approximately the same amount each month.
- Net device cost after all credits: potentially $0, before taxes and fees.
Actual billing could vary slightly because of rounding and billing treatment. Credits could take one or two billing cycles to appear, so the first bill might show a device charge before the corresponding credits arrive. Verizon’s device deals FAQ explains how promotional credits work.
If you canceled service, changed to an ineligible plan, paid off the device early or otherwise lost eligibility, future credits could stop. You might then owe the remaining device balance even though the device was advertised as free after 36 months.
The plans and service lines required
Verizon’s December 3, 2024 terms tied the smartphone offer to a new or upgraded smartphone line on Unlimited Ultimate. The stated minimum for one qualifying smartphone line was $90 per month with Auto Pay, plus taxes and fees.
The watch and tablet were not merely free Wi-Fi accessories. Each required its own new Verizon connected-device service line. The formal terms stated a minimum of $20 per month with Auto Pay for each line, plus taxes and fees.
That means the offer involved three separate categories of obligation:
- The smartphone plan.
- A cellular watch line.
- A cellular tablet line.
You could also face activation or upgrade fees, sales tax collected at purchase, insurance, accessories and other account charges. The $90 and $20 figures were historical minimums for the 2024 promotion, not current 2026 Verizon prices.

What the bundle could cost over 36 months
Using only the minimum service figures in Verizon’s formal December terms:

Over 36 months, that is approximately $4,680 before taxes and fees. This is an illustrative minimum for one phone line plus one watch and one tablet line. It is not every customer’s incremental cost: an existing Verizon customer may already pay for phone service, while a family account may have different per-line pricing.

- Your current phone bill with the proposed Verizon bill.
- The cost of the two additional cellular lines.
- Taxes, fees and activation charges.
- The value of your trade-in if sold privately or used with another promotion.
- The cost of staying with Verizon for the entire 36 months.
An earlier November 2024 Techlicious report cited lower connected-device figures—$7.50 for the watch and $10 for the iPad. Those figures conflict with Verizon’s more detailed December terms, which stated a $20 minimum per watch or tablet line. Verizon’s formal terms are the safer basis for evaluating the final version of the promotion.
Trade-in rules: “any condition” did not mean any phone
Verizon’s marketing emphasized that an old iPhone could qualify regardless of age or condition. However, the formal terms restricted eligible trade-ins by brand.

So the accurate description is any model and any condition within the specified eligible brands, subject to Verizon’s trade-in requirements—not any phone whatsoever.
Could existing Verizon customers qualify?
Yes. Verizon described the promotion as available to new and existing mobile customers, with existing customers potentially qualifying through an upgrade. But eligibility was not automatic.
For an upgrade, Verizon’s detailed terms required the existing smartphone to have been active on the account for at least 60 days before trade-in. New-line and upgrade requirements could differ, and the specific account, device and promotion had to satisfy the archived terms.
An existing Verizon customer should have confirmed:
- Whether the line qualified as a new line or upgrade.
- Whether the current phone had been active for the required period.
- Whether the account was current and in good standing.
- Whether the chosen plan and trade-in brand qualified.
What happened if you canceled or changed plans?
The 36-month term was the central condition. Verizon’s general promotion guidance says credits can stop when a customer:

- Cancels the qualifying line.
- Removes the watch or tablet line.
- Changes to a nonqualifying plan.
- Pays off a financed device early.
- Allows the account to become ineligible or past due.
- Fails another promotion-specific requirement.
Future credits generally disappear when eligibility ends. The remaining device balance may still be due. Because the phone, watch and tablet were separate device promotions, canceling only a companion line could jeopardize credits for that particular device even if the smartphone line remained active.
When was the promotion available?
The bundle appeared in Verizon’s holiday materials during November and December 2024. Verizon promoted an Apple three-device bundle in a November 7 update and repeated substantially similar offers on November 19.
Verizon’s formal December 3 announcement said Holiday Deal Days ran through December 17, 2024. A later December update still discussed the offer in the context of the holiday season, but December 3’s formal terms provide the clearest dated conditions.

Verizon’s 2024 holiday bundle has expired. It should not be presented as a deal that readers can claim in 2026. For current promotions, check Verizon’s current deals page; today’s plan names, prices, devices and credit terms may be different.
Who was the bundle a good fit for?
The promotion made the most sense for someone who already wanted Verizon’s premium plan, needed cellular connectivity for both a watch and tablet, had an old eligible-brand phone with little resale value, and expected to keep all three lines active for 36 months.
It was a poor fit if you:
- Wanted the lowest possible monthly phone bill.
- Would use the watch and tablet primarily on Wi-Fi.
- Expected to switch carriers before 36 months.
- Preferred buying unlocked devices outright.
- Had a valuable phone that could earn more through a private sale.
- Needed only a phone and did not want two additional service lines.
- Were likely to change plans or suspend service.
A practical decision test
Ask one question: Would I willingly pay for this Verizon phone plan, watch line and tablet line for 36 months even without the word “free” in the headline?
If the answer is no, calculate the alternative instead:

- Buy an unlocked phone from the manufacturer.
- Use a lower-cost carrier or an existing carrier’s upgrade offer.
- Choose a Wi-Fi-only tablet and Bluetooth-only smartwatch.
- Use Verizon only for the phone and skip the companion-device lines.
- Compare the full 36-month bill, not just the advertised device value.
The bundle’s headline value was substantial, especially for customers with damaged or obsolete trade-ins. But the real purchase was a three-year Verizon service commitment. The devices were “free” only if the monthly credits continued through the end of the promotional term.
