Yes—Verizon has offered Starbucks rewards. The headline refers to a real Verizon Up promotion from June 2021, and Verizon’s current Verizon Shine loyalty pages still display “Free Starbucks Coffee” as a possible Daily Drop. Those are not necessarily the same offer: today’s reward, availability, expiration and redemption method must be checked inside your own My Verizon account.
What “free Starbucks” means
“Free Starbucks” is a description, not a guarantee of a particular coupon. Depending on the promotion, the benefit could be Starbucks Stars, a drink voucher, a gift card or another partner credit. The 2021 promotion was advertised as a free summer drink but was reportedly delivered as 150 Starbucks Stars. Verizon’s current loyalty page displays “Free Starbucks Coffee” among Daily Drops without publicly specifying the exact drink, value or redemption format.

The original 2021 Verizon Starbucks promotion
On June 30, 2021, Droid Life reported a Verizon Up listing titled “Get a Free Summer Drink.” The reported process was:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems#1 Best Overall
- Redemption: Instore
- No returns and no refunds on gift cards.
- Open the My Verizon app.
- Open Verizon Up.
- Find Get a Free Summer Drink and tap Claim.
- Follow the instructions to use the reward in the Starbucks app.
- Allow up to 24 hours for the reported 150 Starbucks Stars to appear.
Those details describe the 2021 promotion, not a promise about the current offer. The old Verizon Up name and app path should not be treated as current instructions. See the original report at Droid Life.
How to check for Starbucks in Verizon Shine now
Verizon says Verizon Shine replaced Verizon Access/myAccess. To check the current Daily Drops:
Rank #2
- A Starbucks Card is Always Welcome.
- Starbucks Cards redeemable at most SB locations.
- It’s a great way to treat a friend. It’s a convenient way to pre-pay for your own regular purchases.
- Amazon.com Gift Cards cannot be used as a method of payment for this item.
- Physical gift cards are delivered active via mail.
- Sign in to the eligible account in the My Verizon app.
- Open the Me tab.
- Select Shine.
- Review Daily Drops.
- Select the Starbucks offer if it appears, then read its terms and follow the redemption instructions.
There is no separate Shine enrollment step for an eligible customer who is signed in to My Verizon, according to Verizon’s Shine FAQ. Verizon describes My Verizon as the place to view account benefits and rewards on its My Verizon app page.
Who can access Verizon Shine?
Verizon’s general Shine requirements are:
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must have an active, standard monthly Verizon mobile or Verizon Fios account in good standing.
- You must live in the United States, excluding Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
- Business and prepaid accounts are currently excluded.
Verizon also excludes certain lines and devices, including Just Kids plans, Gizmo devices, Ellipsis Kids Devices and Disney devices. A particular Starbucks Daily Drop can impose additional restrictions, so Shine eligibility alone does not establish eligibility for that reward.

Is every Verizon customer guaranteed a Starbucks reward?
No. Daily Drops can have limited quantities and may be first come, first served. Verizon can show different offers to different customers, remove a drop after its limit is reached, or let an offer expire. An eligible Shine customer may therefore see no Starbucks listing, while another customer sees one.
Verizon’s current page confirms that Starbucks can appear as a Daily Drop; it does not establish that the reward is available in every market or at every moment. Do not interpret the headline as an unlimited or permanent free-drink benefit.

- Redemption: Instore
- No returns and no refunds on gift cards.
What to check before tapping Claim
- Reward form: Stars, a direct drink voucher, gift card or another credit.
- Expiration: The claim deadline and the deadline to use the reward may differ.
- Redemption limit: Look for one per account, line or customer.
- Accounts: Confirm whether linking a Starbucks account or using the Starbucks app is required.
- Location: Check participating U.S. stores and exclusions for delivery or mobile ordering.
- Menu rules: Verify eligible sizes, drinks, customizations and add-ons.
If the Starbucks offer is missing or fails
It is not visible
- Confirm that you are signed in to the correct My Verizon account, particularly if your household has both mobile and Fios service.
- Update the My Verizon app.
- Use Me → Shine; do not look for the obsolete Verizon Up tab.
- Check again later because Daily Drops change and can sell out.
- Review the offer terms for account, location, quantity and expiration restrictions.
You claimed it but cannot find it
Check the applicable claimed-offer or history area and the Starbucks account identified in the offer instructions. Verizon notes that expired offers may disappear from history, so an old 2021 claim link may no longer work.
The reward or link has not arrived
Follow the individual offer’s stated processing time. The reported 24-hour delay applies to the 2021 150-Star promotion and should not be assumed for a current Daily Drop. If a current offer was successfully claimed but its link or credit failed, contact Verizon support with the claim details. Support cannot be assumed to restore an expired or sold-out promotion.

What happened to Verizon Up and myAccess?
The name changed over time. The 2021 Starbucks article used Verizon Up; Verizon later used myAccess and Verizon Access; Verizon’s current FAQ says Verizon Shine replaced Access/myAccess. That history explains why older instructions may point to a tab that is no longer in the app. Verizon’s community discussion also describes how older claimed offers could be visible subject to expiration: Verizon Community.
Should you switch to Verizon for Starbucks?
No. A limited, personalized Daily Drop is not a reliable reason to change carriers, upgrade a device or alter a plan. The practical approach is to check Shine if you already have an eligible Verizon account, compare the actual reward terms with its value, and use Starbucks’ own rewards or promotions if the Verizon drop is unavailable.
