Verizon and VMTurbo announced Intelligent Cloud Control on November 23, 2015, as an enterprise service for moving workloads to public clouds. Its central promise was automated, real-time placement decisions based on price, performance, and compliance—not simply a broker recommending a provider. The available announcements describe a planned launch, not whether the service is available today.

What was Intelligent Cloud Control?

Intelligent Cloud Control was a Verizon–VMTurbo cloud-management offering powered by VMTurbo’s application-control technology. It was intended to help enterprise customers decide where to run workloads and move them between public-cloud providers according to resource needs and business constraints. Verizon’s announcement described the product as a way to manage workload migration and deployment through a single service. Verizon and VMTurbo announcement

How was it supposed to move applications?

Rather than relying on manual comparisons or provider-specific monitoring alone, the service was designed to analyze workload demand and infrastructure supply, then make placement decisions in real time. VMTurbo’s decision engine considered application priority and business or technical constraints alongside price, performance, and compliance requirements. It was also intended to handle workload sizing and configuration for deployment and migration. HostingJournalist coverage

VMTurbo described the goal as making automated decisions about where to provision workloads across competing cloud providers. Endre Sara, then VMTurbo’s vice president of advanced solutions, said the joint vision was to place workloads in a way that ensured “a high quality, low cost service.” VMTurbo statement

Which cloud providers were planned?

Provider Status in the announcement
Amazon Web Services (AWS) One of three initially planned connections
IBM SoftLayer One of three initially planned connections
Microsoft Azure One of three initially planned connections

At announcement, Verizon targeted launch for the first quarter of 2016. That was a forward-looking schedule, not confirmation that the launch occurred. The available reports do not establish present-day availability or current provider support. Verizon and VMTurbo announcement

What benefits did Verizon say customers could get?

  • Centralized control: A single interface for controlling workloads across public clouds.
  • More control over cloud spending: The service was intended to help manage costs and reduce unexpected bills.
  • Workload performance and compliance oversight: Verizon positioned the service as providing assurance beyond monitoring tied to an individual cloud provider.

These were stated benefits of the planned service; the announcements do not provide measured savings or independent performance results. Verizon and VMTurbo announcement HostingJournalist coverage

In a January 18, 2016 corporate announcement, VMTurbo reported “100%+ year-over-year growth” in 2015 and approximately 1,300 customers. Those are company-reported figures, not independent measures of Intelligent Cloud Control’s performance or adoption. VMTurbo’s January 2016 announcement
