Varsity Whitfords reopened on 10 October 2025 after a major redevelopment, adding eight Duckpin bowling lanes, an expanded arcade, an outdoor beer garden and more screens and beer taps. The venue is at Westfield Whitford City in Hillarys. Its reported floor area differs by source, so the exact size is not settled.
What changed at Varsity Whitfords?
The redevelopment turned the sports bar into a broader food, drink and entertainment venue. Westfield’s current listing describes eight Duckpin lanes, an outdoor beer garden with an outdoor bar facing a screen, and an arcade covering 300 square metres. It also lists over 80 taps. PerthNow reported 86 beer taps and 38 high-definition screens ahead of the reopening. Its account also named arcade attractions including Jaws Pinball, Wicked Tuna and a four-player shooting gallery. These counts and details are reported descriptions, rather than independently measured specifications. PerthNow’s 18 September 2025 report

More than 500 guests attended a VIP opening event, according to a PerthNow report published on 15 October 2025. That is an event attendance figure, not the venue’s current capacity. PerthNow’s opening-event report
How large is the redeveloped venue?
The published floor-area figures conflict. Westfield’s current venue listing and PerthNow’s September 2025 report give 2,000 square metres, while Signature Hospitality Group’s reopening announcement describes a 3,000-square-metre venue and a 500-square-metre beer garden. The available descriptions do not explain whether the difference reflects measurement methods or scope, so the venue’s precise area cannot be established from these reports.

“Largest venue yet” is the operator’s framing of the redevelopment; the sources do not specify the basis for that comparison. Avoid treating it as a verified ranking by floor area.
How does the new venue compare with the original?
The Whitfords Varsity first opened in 2023. At the time, PerthNow described it as the brand’s largest venue, reporting a capacity of 800 patrons, 47 taps serving 15 beers and 28 screens. Those figures refer to the original venue and should not be read as specifications for the reopened version; a current capacity was not established in the available reports.
