The available sources do not verify the headline’s “$300T” bond-market figure, and they do not provide a transcript of the titled Bitcoin Magazine interview with UTXO Management’s Loren Asmus. They do, however, outline a useful distinction for investors: Bitcoin exposure, securities linked to Bitcoin, and funds built on those securities are not the same thing—and they can carry very different rights and risks.
What the available sources say about Asmus and the interview
True North’s listing identifies Loren Asmus as UTXO Management’s Head of Investor Relations and describes a discussion of institutional access to Bitcoin and fixed income. Its August 13, 2026 episode is titled “The Future of Income Investing”; it is related to, but not the same as, the Bitcoin Magazine conversation named in this article’s headline. Is the bond market really worth $300 trillion?
The available sources do not establish that figure as a bond-market statistic. They give no publisher, measurement date, geographic scope, or methodology for the headline’s “$300T.” It should therefore be treated as a headline figure whose source and scope remain unverified, not as a confirmed estimate of the global bond market.

- BITCOIN EXCLUSIVE, PHONE VERIFICATION: Bitkey is designed from the ground up exclusively for bitcoin — a dedicated hardware wallet for secure bitcoin storage. Approve transactions with a tap using your phone and NFC. No device screen is required.
- SELF-CUSTODY, NO EXCHANGE OR CUSTODIAN REQUIRED: You hold two of the three keys in the Bitkey system – one on your phone and one on your Bitkey device. The third is stored on Bitkey’s server and cannot move your bitcoin on its own.
- NO SEED PHRASE: Set up and use Bitkey without creating or storing a seed phrase.
- 2-of-3 MULTISIG: Three keys are stored separately across your phone, Bitkey device, and Bitkey’s server. Any two keys are required to move your bitcoin.
- BUILT-IN RECOVERY: Encrypted backup and recovery tools can help you regain access if you lose your phone or Bitkey device. You can also designate a Recovery Contact.
What “digital credit” means in UTXO’s framework
UTXO Management describes digital credit as a four-layer structure. The layers distinguish direct Bitcoin exposure from securities and investment structures built on top of that exposure:
- Bitcoin: the underlying digital asset.
- Instruments redeemable for Bitcoin: UTXO gives spot exchange-traded funds as an example.
- Securities built on Bitcoin or ETFs: UTXO says these do not give holders a direct claim on Bitcoin collateral.
- Products structured on those securities: UTXO says these also carry no direct claim on Bitcoin collateral.
UTXO’s published framework states: “Each layer builds on the one below; layers three and four carry no direct claim on the Bitcoin collateral itself.” That is UTXO’s wording in its Structured Digital Credit article, not a verified spoken quotation from Asmus. The practical implication is that a product can be connected to Bitcoin without giving its investor ownership of Bitcoin or a direct right to collateral. The product’s legal documents—not its association with Bitcoin—determine what the investor owns and can claim.
How UTXO describes its preferred-income fund
UTXO says its Preferred Income Strategies LP launched on July 1, 2026, as a tranched structure fund built on digital credit. In the company’s article, the portfolio at that time was made up of STRC, with potential to diversify into preferred instruments issued by companies that hold Bitcoin as a reserve asset. This is UTXO’s description of its own strategy; it is not independent performance evidence, and it does not establish that the fund is appropriate for any particular investor. A tranched structure divides exposure into different classes with distinct positions or terms. The exact rights, payment priorities, risks, and liquidity available to an investor depend on the fund documents and the securities it holds. The available description does not provide enough security-specific terms to rank the fund or its underlying instruments.
What to compare before considering a Bitcoin-linked preferred security
UTXO notes that preferred securities can vary in rate structure and issuer. A meaningful comparison requires examining the actual offering and fund documents, rather than assuming that similar labels mean similar risk.

- Issuer and credit quality: Identify who owes payment and assess the issuer’s ability to meet its obligations.
- Seniority and payment priority: Check where the security ranks relative to other claims if the issuer runs into financial distress.
- Rate structure: Determine whether the preferred security pays a fixed or variable rate, and read the terms governing changes.
- Redemption rights: Confirm who can redeem, when redemption may occur, and under what conditions.
- Liquidity: Review whether and how the security or fund interest can be sold or redeemed; do not assume that a quoted rate guarantees an exit at a particular price.
- Collateral claim: Establish whether the instrument gives a direct claim on Bitcoin collateral or is a security built on another layer of exposure. UTXO says its third and fourth layers have no direct claim on Bitcoin collateral.
- Volatility and structure: Consider the risks of the underlying asset, issuer, security terms, and any fund-level tranching together.
The accessible sources do not supply enough instrument-level terms to calculate expected returns, compare particular preferred securities, or make an investment recommendation.
What investors can—and cannot—conclude
The available listing and summary support a discussion of institutional access, portfolio constraints, and fixed income as a possible route for traditional investors to engage with digital assets. They do not establish the complete argument made in the titled interview, because its transcript is not available in the sources cited here. Nor do they verify the headline’s $300T figure.

UTXO’s framework is useful for asking a more precise question than whether a product is “Bitcoin-linked”: what does the investor actually own, what claims are enforceable, and which risks sit with the issuer, security, or fund structure? Those answers must come from the specific legal documents for the instrument under consideration.
