It is not the same as sUSDS: sUSDS is a savings token that represents a position in the Sky Savings Rate (SSR), a variable rate set through governance. Sky says sUSDS can be withdrawn to USDS at any time, but neither backing nor a withdrawal route guarantees a dollar-for-dollar market sale or eliminates rate, contract, collateral, and conversion risks.
What is the difference between USDS and sUSDS?
USDS is intended to target $1.00. sUSDS is the token received when USDS is supplied to Sky’s savings module. It is not designed to stay at $1.00; instead, its value in redeemable USDS can accrue as the SSR is applied. Sky describes sUSDS as a value-accruing ERC-4626 token, not a rebasing token: the number of sUSDS tokens in a wallet need not increase for the amount of USDS they represent to grow. Sky’s explainer describes the distinction and the protocol’s conversion paths.
| Question | USDS | sUSDS |
|---|---|---|
| What is it? | Sky’s dollar-targeting stablecoin. | A savings-module token representing exposure to the SSR. |
| Price behavior | Targets $1.00; the target is not a guarantee of an exact market price. | Not pegged to $1.00; the amount of USDS redeemable per token may accrue. |
| Does it earn the SSR? | Holding USDS alone does not earn the SSR. | Provides access to the variable SSR when supplied to the savings module. |
| Main additional exposure | Protocol backing, stablecoin price and redemption conditions. | Those protocol exposures plus variable-rate and savings-contract exposure. |
Is USDS backed, and can it be redeemed for dollars?
Sky says USDS is backed by diversified protocol collateral and sUSDS is backed by USDS. That is a description of Sky’s model, not an independent assurance that every collateral component is liquid or that a token can always be sold for exactly one dollar. Sky directs users to its product page and collateral dashboard for current information.
USDS is dollar-targeting, but the reviewed Sky materials do not establish a universal direct redemption of USDS for bank dollars. A protocol conversion into another token is not the same as cashing out to a bank account, and a market sale may differ from a protocol route in price, fees, availability, and execution.

Sky’s June 23, 2026 explainer describes a one-to-one USDC/USDS swap through the Peg Stability Module (PSM) and claims the module holds roughly $4 billion in institutional-grade liquidity. That figure is Sky’s published claim, not a separately verified live balance. The described route does not mean every user, wallet, network, or region will have identical access or execution conditions.
How does sUSDS yield work, and what is the current rate?
Sky says the SSR is funded from aggregate Sky Protocol surplus and changes through onchain governance, with SKY holders voting on rate changes. Sky’s explainer links protocol revenue to the Sky Agent Network and diversified deployment of protocol liquidity; it also says sUSDS holders are not claimants on any particular agent, strategy, collateral pool, or revenue stream.

The Sky.money sUSDS page displayed 3.60% APY when reviewed in 2026. This is a dated, changeable display—not a forecast, fixed return, or guarantee. Check the official sUSDS page for the rate shown at the time you act. Sky’s materials say the rate is variable and governed; the rate can fall significantly, reach zero, or become negative, according to Sky’s risk documentation.
Can you withdraw sUSDS at any time?
Sky says users can withdraw sUSDS to USDS at any time, without a lockup. Its explainer also describes approved stablecoin conversion flows, including a USDC route through the PSM. Actual access and the value received can depend on the route used, transaction costs, market conditions, wallet and network support, and regional availability. A protocol withdrawal to USDS should not be confused with a guaranteed sale for dollars at par.

What are the main risks of USDS and sUSDS?
- Smart-contract risk: USDS and sUSDS rely on onchain contracts. A history of operation does not eliminate the possibility of a future vulnerability or exploit.
- Rate risk: The SSR is variable and governance-controlled, and Sky’s risk documentation says it may drop, reach zero, or turn negative.
- Collateral and protocol risk: The backing depends on protocol collateral and risk controls. A collateral dashboard can help show composition, but it does not guarantee the collateral’s future value or liquidity.
- Redemption and conversion risk: Sky warns conversions can suffer material slippage, especially in turbulent markets. Redemption through a protocol route and selling on an exchange are not equivalent promises.
- Access and interface risk: Skybase says it does not custody assets or control protocol contracts or governance. Interface availability and access restrictions may vary by region; a non-custodial interface does not remove risks in the underlying protocol.
Sky’s risk documentation sets out user risks; details should be read with the understanding that the legal page may not be available in every location.

How can you check the rate and collateral before using the tokens?
- Open Sky’s sUSDS page and check the displayed SSR/APY. Treat it as a current display that can change, not as a promised return.
- Use Sky’s collateral dashboard, linked from its product information, to review the collateral composition Sky reports. Composition is information, not a guarantee of recovery value or liquidity.
- Confirm the specific conversion route, supported network, transaction fees, and any regional restrictions before moving funds. Do not assume an exchange price or USDC route will match a direct protocol withdrawal.
- Read the applicable Sky user-risk terms and assess whether smart-contract, governance, collateral, and conversion risks are acceptable for your situation.
