As of the available dated figures, there is no verified October 4, 2026 transaction quote here. Forbes Advisor displayed 1 USD = 48.4945 TRY at 20:17 UTC on September 10, 2026; the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) published different indicative rates dated October 2, 2026. Those numbers have different dates and purposes, so check a live converter and your bank or transfer provider’s final quote before exchanging or sending money.

Neither source establishes what a customer would receive on October 4.
How to calculate a USD to TRY conversion
To estimate the lira value, multiply the number of US dollars by the quoted TRY-per-USD rate. Using Forbes Advisor’s dated display solely as an illustration, 100 USD × 48.4945 equals 4,849.45 TRY before any provider-specific rate difference or charges. This is a calculation from the September 10 figure, not a current offer.
For a real transaction, use the rate and direction that apply to your situation. If you are buying lira with dollars, look for the provider’s rate for converting USD into TRY; if you are exchanging lira back into dollars, the relevant direction is the reverse. A calculator’s mid-market or reference figure may not be the rate offered to you.

What the published rates mean
Forbes Advisor’s converter rate
Forbes Advisor says its general currency converter uses Open Exchange API rates and refreshes them every five minutes. It also cautions that the displayed rate may differ from what a bank or other financial institution offers. The USD/TRY page’s retrieved display was last updated September 10, 2026 at 20:17 UTC, so it should not be labeled today’s rate on October 4.
CBRT indicative rates
The CBRT says it announces indicative exchange rates at 15:30 on each business day. For USD, it collects banks’ interbank-market buying and selling quotes hourly from 10:00 through 15:00, averages each hourly buying/selling pair, averages the six hourly values into a mid-rate, then applies a discount and premium to set buying and selling rates. The bank states: “These indicative rates are not binding on any person or institution, but can be used by the Central Bank in cashier’s and certain accounting transactions on the following business day.” No indicative rates are published for weekends, public holidays, or half working-days.

How to check the rate before exchanging or sending money
- Check a dated reference: use a currency converter for an estimate and note its timestamp. Forbes Advisor says its general converter updates every five minutes, but its dated USD/TRY display cited above is from September 10, 2026.
- Choose the correct rate category: when consulting the CBRT table, distinguish buying from selling and foreign-exchange rates from banknote rates. The October 2, 2026 values are indicative references, not binding customer quotes.
- Request the provider’s transaction quote: check the rate your bank, exchange bureau, or transfer service will actually apply for the direction and amount you need.
- Check charges and the final amount: compare any disclosed fees as well as the exchange rate, then confirm the total TRY to be received or paid before authorizing the transaction.
