A campaign account published March 18, 2026, described a Times Square promotion tied to New York City’s St. Patrick’s Day activity: people could scan a postcard QR code, download Rumble Wallet and claim $10 in USA₮. The account promoted the offer as a way to experience digital-dollar payments, but it did not provide independent evidence that participants completed claims or payments instantly.
How the Times Square USA₮ giveaway was supposed to work
TechnologyWire’s campaign release, republished by InfoWorld and marked “Sponsored by TechnologyWire,” described a three-step flow: “Scan. Download. Receive.” A person would scan a QR code on a promotional postcard, download Rumble Wallet and claim $10 in USA₮.
The release said brand ambassadors would distribute 25,000 postcards along Times Square and the parade route. It reported that the activation began at 10 a.m. ET and ended at 11:59 p.m. ET. These are details and planned quantities reported by the campaign, not independently audited distribution or participation figures.

What USA₮ is—and what it is not
Tether announced the official launch of USA₮ on January 27, 2026, and named Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A. as the token’s issuer. Tether describes USA₮ as a dollar-backed digital token designed to operate within the GENIUS Act framework. Those are the issuer’s descriptions, not an independent assessment of its regulatory status or backing.

Tether’s announcement also states that USA₮ is not legal tender, is not issued, backed, approved or guaranteed by the U.S. government, and is not covered by FDIC, SIPC or other government-agency insurance. A digital dollar token should not be confused with U.S. currency or an insured bank deposit.
Why Rumble Wallet was part of the offer
Tether’s January 7, 2026 announcement described Rumble Wallet as a self-custodial crypto wallet integrated into Rumble. At launch, Tether said it supported USDT, XAUT and Bitcoin, with USA₮ expected “in the coming weeks.” The campaign’s stated claim flow required downloading Rumble Wallet.

The January announcement predates the Times Square promotion. It does not establish exactly when USA₮ support became available in the wallet, confirm that every participant could redeem the campaign offer, or establish the wallet’s current supported assets. Tether describes the wallet as self-custodial and powered by its Wallet Development Kit; those are company statements, not independent security-audit findings.
Were the campaign payments actually instant?
The campaign framed the promotion around instant digital-dollar payments. Its release, however, supplied no transaction records, measured settlement times, failure rates or other performance results. It therefore supports saying that organizers promoted a claim flow intended to let people use USA₮ on the spot—not that the event demonstrated a verified transaction speed.

Bo Hines, identified in the campaign press release as CEO of Tether USAT, said: “We are not just running ads, we are handing people the future of money and letting them use it on the spot.” That is the campaign’s characterization, not independent confirmation of completed payments. The available company announcements and campaign account likewise do not establish actual claim or payment outcomes.

- The organizers said they planned to distribute 25,000 postcards; that figure is not a verified count of cards handed out or offers redeemed.
- Tether identifies Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A. as issuer of USA₮ and says the token is not government-issued or insured by FDIC or SIPC.
- No independent results establish how many people participated, whether claims succeeded, or how quickly any event transactions settled.
For consumers, the key distinction is between an advertised demonstration and a documented payment result. The campaign account explains the intended signup and claim path, but it does not substantiate an independently measured instant-payment performance claim.
