Why the February 18 deadline changed
UPSC issued Examination Notice No. 06/2025-IFoS on January 22, 2025, with an original application deadline of February 11 at 6:00 p.m. The Commission first extended the deadline to February 18 at 6:00 p.m., then announced a further extension to February 21 at 6:00 p.m. The later official notice superseded the earlier date.

The February 18 date appeared in a February 10 report, before UPSC announced the second extension. UPSC’s examination archive records February 21 at 18:00 as the application deadline.
Is the UPSC IFS 2025 application still open?
No. The final deadline passed on February 21, 2025. UPSC’s archive lists May 25, 2025, as the date of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination used for the IFoS preliminary stage. These are historical dates, not an invitation to apply now. Check UPSC’s IFoS 2025 examination page for archived notices and updates.

How the IFoS preliminary application worked
IFoS candidates took the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination as the preliminary stage. Candidates had to appear in and qualify that examination to proceed to the Indian Forest Service Main Examination. Applicants seeking consideration for both Civil Services and IFoS could use a common online application form, subject to meeting the requirements for each examination, as set out in UPSC’s original examination notice.
