No. UPSC IES/ISS 2024 registration is not open: the 2024 examination cycle is historical, with results and question papers in UPSC’s archives. The next cycle listed in the official archive was IES/ISS 2026, whose application deadline—3 March 2026 at 6:00 p.m.—has also passed. Check UPSC’s examination notices for any later cycle before acting.

Is UPSC IES/ISS 2024 registration still open?

No. UPSC’s archive records the 2024 Indian Economic Service and Indian Statistical Service examination results as uploaded on 13 December 2024, and its previous-question-paper archive lists the 2024 papers. These records establish that the cycle is over; they are not an application route. See the UPSC marks of recommended candidates archive and the UPSC previous question papers archive.

The exact 2024 application closing date is not established by those cited archive pages. Do not rely on the old “ends today” headline as evidence of that historical date.

Can you apply for IES/ISS today?

The official UPSC examination-notification archive lists the 2026 IES/ISS notification as dated 11 February 2026, with the examination commencing on 19 June 2026 for three days. Its application deadline was 3 March 2026 at 6:00 p.m.; as of 8 October 2026, that deadline has passed. Check the UPSC examination notifications archive for a later notice and follow the dates and application instructions in that notice. Do not assume a new cycle is open unless UPSC has published it.

What does UPSC IES/ISS mean?

In UPSC’s listing, IES/ISS refers to the Indian Economic Service and Indian Statistical Service. The official 2024 paper archive lists separate subject papers for the two services:

  • Common papers: General Studies and General English.
  • Indian Economic Service: Indian Economics and General Economics Papers I, II and III.
  • Indian Statistical Service: Statistics Papers I, II, III and IV.

Is IES/ISS the Engineering Services Examination?

No. Indian Economic Service–Indian Statistical Service is a different UPSC examination from Engineering Services. UPSC lists Engineering Services separately; its Engineering Services (Preliminary) Examination 2027 notice gave an application deadline of 6 October 2026 at 6:00 p.m., which had passed by 8 October 2026. That notice is not an IES/ISS application notice. See the UPSC Engineering Services (Preliminary) Examination 2027 page.
