The UPSC ESE 2025 application window closed on 22 November 2024; “ends today” referred to that date, not today. UPSC reopened applications after the Government decided to include Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) posts in the examination. The 2025 exam cycle has since concluded, so this is not a current application opportunity.
When was the last date to apply for UPSC ESE 2025?
The original notification, issued on 18 September 2024, set 8 October 2024 as the application deadline. UPSC later opened a new application window for new applicants from 18 October through 22 November 2024. The Press Information Bureau’s 18 October 2024 release said the reopening followed the Government’s decision to include IRMS in ESE 2025.
The PIB release stated: “Keeping in view of the decision of the Government for inclusion of Indian Railway Management Service IRMS in Engineering Services Examination (ESE, 2025), the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has decided to open new Application Window from 18th October 2024 to 22nd November 2024 for new applicants.” Read the official PIB release.
Did UPSC extend or reopen the ESE 2025 application deadline?
UPSC provided a new application window after the original deadline, rather than simply changing the original closing date. The 18 October–22 November window was for new applicants. Candidates who had applied during the original window did not need to submit another application. They could update particulars during the new window or the separate correction/edit window, which ran from 23 to 29 November 2024, according to the PIB release.

How many vacancies were announced for ESE 2025?
UPSC’s 18 October 2024 addendum put the expected total at approximately 457 vacancies, including 22 for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). Within the PwBD vacancies, the addendum specified 13 for locomotor disability and 9 for hard of hearing. The total was an estimate, not a guaranteed final count: UPSC said the number of vacancies was liable to alteration. See the official UPSC addendum for the vacancy notice and its qualifications.

No. The ESE 2025 application windows have closed, and both scheduled examination dates have passed. UPSC rescheduled the preliminary examination to 8 June 2025 and the main examination to 10 August 2025, as recorded in the PIB release.
