What candidates had to bring and check

UPSC’s Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2022 candidate instructions required a printed e-Admit Card and the original photo identity card whose number appeared on the admit card, in each session. The instructions stated: “Bring the e-Admit Card (print out) along with the (original) Photo Identity Card, whose number is mentioned in the e-Admit Card, in each session to secure admission to Examination Hall.”

Candidates were instructed to check the card and report discrepancies to UPSC promptly. UPSC also said: “E-Admit Card must be preserved till the declaration of the final results of the Civil Services Examination, 2022.”

How UPSC delivers admit cards

UPSC’s FAQ says e-Admit Cards are made available online and are not sent by post. It gives a general guideline that cards are made available around three weeks before an examination; that guidance does not change the reported historical release date for Prelims 2022.
