The UPSC Combined Defence Services Examination (I), 2026 application window is closed. UPSC’s official archive gives the last date as 30 December 2025 at 18:00. For any future CDS application, use UPSC’s official Apply Online page to reach its new Application Portal; the available official information does not establish the next CDS I application date.
CDS I 2026 application status
UPSC’s examination archive lists the CDS I 2026 notification as dated 10 December 2025, with the examination held on 12 April 2026. The archive states that applications had to be received by 30 December 2025 at 18:00, so the application period has passed. Check the UPSC examination archive for the official cycle listing.
Where to find the official application portal
UPSC’s Apply Online page directs examination applicants to its new Application Portal at upsconline.nic.in. Use the UPSC page as the starting point and select the relevant examination there; reaching the portal does not mean that a particular application form is open.
How to check a future CDS application deadline
- Open UPSC’s official examination archive and identify the exact cycle, such as CDS I or CDS II, and year.
- Open that cycle’s notification and verify its application dates and closing time. Do not use a date from a different examination cycle.
- Follow UPSC’s Apply Online page to the new Application Portal, then check whether the matching application is available there.
The official information available here does not establish a notification or deadline for the next CDS I cycle. Check the applicable live notification rather than relying on an assumed annual schedule. Eligibility rules can also vary by notice: for example, conditions for final-year degree candidates in an older CDS I notice should not be treated as current rules without checking the relevant cycle’s notification.

Preparation material is separate from applying
A CDS preparation book or previous-year question papers may be optional study aids, but neither is required to access the application portal, and UPSC’s official pages do not endorse a particular book or publisher. If you choose one, check that its edition reflects the relevant syllabus and examination cycle.
