The UPPSC declared the Combined State / Upper Subordinate Services (Main) Examination–2023 result in December 2023. Contemporary reporting said 451 candidates qualified for interview, scheduled for January 8–12, 2024. This is a historical mains-stage shortlist, not a final selection or appointment list. To verify an individual result, use the Commission’s result section and check the roll number in the official PDF.
What the UPPSC PCS 2023 result covers
The result is for the Combined State / Upper Subordinate Services (Main) Examination–2023. The mains were held September 26–29, 2023, and candidates who qualified proceeded to the interview stage. Scroll Staff reported those dates and the January 8–12, 2024 interview window in its December 25, 2023 coverage: Scroll.in.
The selection process comprised a preliminary objective examination, a conventional written mains examination and a viva-voce or personality test. Qualifying for the interview means passing the mains stage; it does not by itself mean a candidate was finally selected for appointment.
How to check a roll number
- Open the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) website and go to its results section.
- Find the result titled “LIST OF CANDIDATES QUALIFIED FOR INTERVIEW IN COMBINED STATE/UPPER SUBORDINATE (MAIN) EXAM-2023.” Make sure the notice is for the 2023 exam cycle, since the live site also carries newer notices.
- Open the official result PDF and search for your roll number. The result is presented as roll numbers, so check the number rather than relying on a copied name list or an unofficial transcription.
- Contemporary reporting directed qualified candidates to obtain their interview call letters from UPPSC. The January 2024 interview period has passed, so the historical call-letter route should not be taken as confirmation that those letters remain available now.
The official homepage is the appropriate place to look for Commission notices, but the historic PDF’s contents were not exposed on the official page available at the time of reporting. A third-party mirror exists; use the Commission’s own notice to verify any individual status rather than treating a mirrored copy as definitive.

Interview shortlist, schedule and vacancy context
Indian Masterminds reported on December 22, 2023 that 451 candidates qualified for interview and that 3,658 candidates appeared in the mains. These are figures reported by that outlet, not figures from a separately retrieved official statistical release: Indian Masterminds.

The reported 451-person shortlist should therefore not be compared directly with all 254 vacancies as though every vacancy used the same selection route. The reporting separates interview-based posts from written-examination-only posts.

Scroll reported that interviews were to be conducted in two shifts and specified a time of 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The report does not clearly give the hours for the second shift, so no second-shift schedule can safely be inferred from it. The interview window itself was in January 2024 and is now historical.
The result notice’s roll-number list is the key document for an individual check. Do not treat a news headline saying candidates were “selected for interviews” as a final merit list or appointment notice.
