UPL announced a long-term collaboration with Kimitec’s MAAVi Innovation Center on May 3, 2022, to bring five biostimulant and innovative nutrition products to the U.S. market. The announcement described an intended registration and distribution plan—not proof that the products are registered, currently sold, or still covered by the partnership.
What the UPL–Kimitec announcement said
UPL’s Natural Plant Protection (NPP) business unit said it would register, market, and distribute five products in the United States. Kimitec provided distribution rights, while its MAAVi Innovation Center supplied the technology. The collaboration was described as long-term and focused on developing and delivering BioSolutions intended to support plant development, yields, and crop quality. Those are stated aims, not independently established efficacy results. UPL’s announcement was released May 5, 2022, with a May 3 dateline.
The planned crop range covered row crops, fruits and vegetables, and tree nuts. The product descriptions and crop targets below reflect UPL’s 2022 announcement; they should not be treated as current product labels or registration claims.
Which five products were included?
| Product | 2022 description and intended use | Crop registration intentions stated in 2022 |
|---|---|---|
| ALFA | Soil amendment based on two soil probiotics, intended to optimize access to water and nutrients. | Vegetables; strawberries and berries; almond and pistachio; pome fruit and citrus; vine crops; and row crops. UPL said OMRI approval was pending at the time. |
| MOTO | Plant nutritional supplement supplying nitrogen; UPL said it may help optimize conditions for resistance to abiotic stress. | Cotton, soybean, corn, vegetables, citrus and fruit trees, grapes, berries, and root and tuber crops. |
| VELEXI | Fermented concentrate of soil prebiotics designed to promote soil microorganism activity, aeration, nutrient availability, and root development. | Cereals, corn, sunflower, sugar beets, soybeans, pulses, and cotton. UPL said OMRI approval was pending at the time. |
| SERENIS | Root-enhancement liquid formulation intended to aid root-system development. | Greenhouse and outdoor vegetables, pome fruits, citrus, strawberries, and vine crops. UPL said OMRI approval was pending at the time. |
| CEVO | Liquid fertilizer providing nitrogen through enzymatic hydrolysis and bacterial fermentation; described as supporting plant metabolism at critical stages. | Certain vegetables, fruits, strawberries, vine crops, and cereals. UPL said OMRI approval was pending at the time. |
Are the products available in the United States now?
The 2022 announcement does not establish current registrations, labels, sales, availability, or the present status of the UPL–Kimitec arrangement. It reported plans to register and distribute the products, which is different from confirming that those steps were completed. The announcement’s statements that OMRI approval was pending for ALFA, VELEXI, SERENIS, and CEVO describe only their reported status at that time; they do not establish their current status.
#1 Best Overall
Kimitec’s current biostimulant portfolio page says products adapt to local regulation and that some may not be available in all countries. It does not verify U.S. availability for these five named products. Growers should confirm registration and the applicable label with UPL or a qualified agricultural distributor before purchasing or use.

The announcement documents a planned commercial arrangement and each party’s stated role. It does not provide comparative trial data or establish how the products perform in a particular crop, soil, or growing condition. Product positioning in a press release is not a substitute for efficacy evidence, an approved label, or locally relevant agronomic advice.
A separate 2023 Bayer–Kimitec collaboration addressed biological crop protection and biostimulants; it was a distinct partnership and does not establish whether the UPL arrangement continued. Bayer’s February 2023 announcement describes that separate agreement.
