There is no single McAfee renewal price. Your amount depends on the plan, device and user coverage, identity features, country, taxes, purchase channel and the renewal rate in effect when your term ends. For a U.S. subscription bought directly from McAfee, the price shown in My Account is more authoritative than an online price list or an email. First-year offers are commonly promotional; later renewals can be higher.
If a renewal message looks suspicious, do not call its number or click its links. Sign in manually at McAfee’s official site and verify the charge first.

How McAfee renewal pricing works
A McAfee subscription can involve several different prices and events:
- Initial term: the period covered by your original purchase.
- Introductory price: a discounted first-term price generally offered to new customers.
- Automatic renewal: a recurring charge, normally annual for direct subscriptions, unless you disable it or local rules require otherwise.
- Manual renewal: a new purchase made after a subscription expires or after auto-renewal is turned off.
- Upgrade or migration: a change to a newer product, device allowance or feature bundle that can alter the price.
- Third-party billing: a subscription sold through Apple, Google, an internet provider, computer maker, retailer or reseller, with that seller controlling billing under its terms.
McAfee’s U.S. terms say the original purchase price applies to the first term, while a renewal uses the price in effect at renewal. McAfee may charge within the 30 days before the subscription ends and says it will notify customers when the renewal price changes. See the McAfee terms for the applicable conditions.

What McAfee renewal prices may look like
| Price signal | How to interpret it |
|---|---|
| Introductory offer | Usually applies to the first term for eligible new customers, not future renewals. |
| Account renewal amount | The highest-authority figure: the amount and date shown in your McAfee account for your subscription. |
| McAfee free-trial example | McAfee’s U.S. terms give a specific example of $39.99 for the first term followed by a currently stated $109.99 per year. This is an example, not a universal rate. |
| Official offer-page signals | The U.S. product page has displayed figures such as $149.99 for Premium and $199.99 for Advanced in offer content. Dynamic offers can vary by visitor, campaign, account and date; these are not guaranteed renewal prices. |
| Secondary comparison snapshot | TechRadar reported renewal figures of $119.99 for Essential, $149.99 for Premium, $199.99 for Advanced and $279.99 for Ultimate. Treat these as a dated comparison, not a quote for your account. |
Current plan information is on McAfee’s U.S. product page, but its live prices are dynamically populated. Never present any one number as “the McAfee renewal price.”
Why your renewal can be higher than your first payment
- The new-customer discount ended after the first term.
- Your plan now covers more devices or household members.
- An identity, privacy, credit, transaction-monitoring or restoration service was added.
- McAfee renamed or replaced an older product with a comparable current bundle.
- Taxes, currency, regional pricing or reseller terms changed the total.
- McAfee changed pricing after the introductory period. Its terms cite possible effects from new features, taxes, inflation, currency fluctuations, infrastructure and administrative costs.
Check whether the charge is for the product you remember buying, the same number of devices and the same seller. A family or unlimited-device bundle can cost more than a limited, single-user plan.

Which McAfee features affect the price?
Names and bundles change, so compare what a plan does rather than relying on the name alone. McAfee’s current U.S. lineup broadly distinguishes these categories:
| Category | Broad distinction |
|---|---|
| Essential | Core protection shown for a limited number of devices; the current page identifies a five-device option. |
| Premium | Unlimited-device protection for one user, with features such as VPN, scam protection and identity monitoring in the current presentation. |
| Advanced | Broader identity and privacy services, including more extensive data-removal, transaction-monitoring and restoration features. |
| Ultimate | Higher-level identity-monitoring and privacy coverage, including larger identity-theft coverage limits in the current comparison. |
| Family variants | Coverage for multiple adults, children and household devices. |
The comparison page lists antivirus, scam detection, VPN, web protection, identity monitoring, personal-data cleanup, transaction monitoring, credit monitoring, identity restoration and McAfee Assist. Availability depends on plan, location and supported device. McAfee also says features may be added, changed or removed during a term, and not every feature works on every device. “Unlimited” refers to supported personal household devices, not unlimited commercial equipment.
How to check your exact renewal amount
- Open a browser yourself and type mcafee.com; do not use a renewal-email button.
- Select My Account and sign in through the official account route.
- Open the active subscription and record the product name, device count, renewal date, displayed renewal amount, payment-method ending digits, auto-renewal status and seller.
- Compare those details with the email, invoice and bank or card statement.
- If the records disagree, use McAfee’s official support route rather than a phone number or link in the message.
McAfee says auto-renewal settings can be changed from My Account or through customer service. Its support instructions are titled “Change or cancel auto-renewal.”

How to stop the next renewal
Direct McAfee subscription
- Sign in to My Account.
- Open the relevant subscription or account settings.
- Find the auto-renewal control and turn it off.
- Save or confirm the change.
- Keep the confirmation screen or email.
- Sign in again later to verify that auto-renewal remains disabled.
McAfee advises making the change more than 30 days before the term ends so the payment method is not charged for the next renewal. Turning off auto-renewal normally stops future billing; it does not necessarily end the already-paid period immediately. McAfee warns that some benefits available only to customers enrolled in auto-renewal may end.

Subscription bought elsewhere
Apple, Google, an internet provider, computer manufacturer, retailer or another reseller may control cancellation. Check the original receipt and the merchant descriptor on your statement, then cancel through that seller’s account system. Do not assume McAfee can cancel a third-party subscription.
Can a McAfee renewal be refunded?
Under McAfee’s stated U.S. consumer terms, a full refund may generally be requested within 30 days of the initial purchase or within 60 days of an automatic renewal. Eligibility can differ by country, product, purchase channel and the applicable refund policy; no refund is guaranteed outside the relevant rules.

How to spot a fake McAfee renewal email
A McAfee logo does not prove that McAfee sent a message. Warning signs include:

- an invoice for a product you do not recognize;

- threats of legal action or account suspension;
- a request for remote computer access;
- gift cards, cryptocurrency, wire transfers or unusual payment;
- a misspelled or unrelated web domain;
- a large multi-year charge absent from your account; or
- a “refund” available only if you call the number in the email.
Respond safely:
- Do not call the number, click links or open attachments in the message.
- Sign in manually through McAfee’s official website.
- Check the subscription and payment history.
- Contact your bank or card issuer about an unauthorized charge.
- Change your password if you entered credentials on a suspicious site.

- Report the message through your email provider or relevant fraud-reporting channel.
Should you renew McAfee?
Renew when the bundle matches your use
- You actively use the VPN, identity monitoring, data removal, transaction monitoring or restoration service.
- Several household devices or people genuinely need coverage.
- The account price is competitive with comparable protection you would otherwise buy separately.
- You value one support and billing relationship.
Pause, downgrade or switch when it does not
- You need only basic malware protection.
- You do not use the identity or privacy features driving the price.
- The account shows an unfamiliar product or device count.
- Another security suite already covers your devices.
- You bought accidentally or through a suspicious message.
- You need business or commercial-device coverage; McAfee’s unlimited-device language is for supported personal household devices.
Compare the effective cost
Use effective annual cost = renewal price ÷ genuinely used covered devices. Also compare users, VPN limits, identity-monitoring depth, whether data cleanup only scans or actually removes data, credit-bureau coverage, restoration terms, support and whether bonus benefits require auto-renewal. A cheaper plan may be better if it removes unused features; a family plan may be worthwhile only when multiple people need it.
Other options to evaluate
You can ask McAfee about a lower tier, rely on security already included with your operating system or productivity subscription, buy standalone antivirus, or use a separate identity-monitoring service. Candidates to compare include Bitdefender, Norton, Malwarebytes, Microsoft 365 and Defender and ESET. Compare current prices and terms directly; no alternative is automatically better for every household.
When the account and charge do not match
The email amount differs from the account
The email may be fraudulent or outdated; it may refer to another account, a reseller, a changed plan, taxes or currency conversion. Trust the official account and payment record, then contact official support.

Possible causes include changing the setting after the billing cutoff, canceling a different subscription, third-party billing, an unsaved change, duplicate subscriptions or an authorization made before cancellation. Capture the current status, check the cancellation timestamp and merchant descriptor, then contact official support or your card issuer if unauthorized.
You cannot find the subscription
Check alternate email addresses, a spouse’s or family member’s account, Apple or Google subscriptions, retailer and manufacturer receipts, ISP billing, PayPal and other payment intermediaries.
