Mais55 was presented as part of Universo Spanta’s broader effort to serve as a platform for promoting Brazilian music, alongside the festival’s live performances. Diogo Castelão, idealizer of Universo Spanta and Mais55, argued that stronger investment in emerging talent, promotion, knowledge, and tools could help Brazilian music enter global markets. That was his rationale for the initiative, not an independently measured finding about the industry.

The announced dates were January 24, 25, and 26, 2024, at Marina da Glória in Rio de Janeiro. Contemporary reporting describes one edition at that time; it does not establish that Mais55 returned in subsequent years.

January 25: rights, technology, and promotion

The program reflected two complementary approaches: examining funk, bossa nova, and sertanejo as genres with cultural and export dimensions, and addressing the rights, technology, audiovisual, and marketing work involved in promoting music. The January 8 announcement also said daily debates would close with performances, highlighting Hermeto Pascoal and a tribute to Luiz Gonzaga led by his grandson, Daniel Gonzaga.

Mundo da Música attributed the following statement to Castelão. The English rendering below is a translation of the Portuguese statement published by the outlet:
“Brazilian music is a very relevant cultural and economic asset for our country, but we still do not give this industry the attention it needs and deserves. In 2024, in addition to once again presenting shows by major names in Brazilian music, we want to be seen as a platform for promoting Brazilian music. For us to continue exporting our culture and being one of the main protagonists in global music, investment in new talent, promotion, knowledge, and tools is essential for better entry into the global market.”

Mundo da Música’s January 18 report also identified Petrobras as the event’s master sponsor. That describes the 2024 event context, not a current sponsorship or commercial arrangement.
Public access and ticketing were historical details
A January 18, 2024 report said the gathering was open to the public and directed ticket buyers to Sympla. Those details refer to the announced 2024 edition; they are not evidence that tickets are available now. Contemporary coverage also does not establish attendance, outcomes, or a subsequent edition.
