Danish cybersecurity company Uniqkey announced a €5.35 million funding round on August 29, 2024, led by Swedish venture capital firm BackingMinds. The company said it would use the funding to expand across Europe, develop its product and support growth while keeping pace with safety standards. SecurityWeek reported that the round brought Uniqkey’s total funding to €15.35 million.
Who invested in Uniqkey?
BackingMinds led the August 2024 round, with additional angel-investor participation. Tech.eu also named Jesper Zerlang, Lars Ankjer, Otto Krabbe and Rolf Bladt among the participants, along with other angels and key employees. SecurityWeek and Tech.eu reported the announcement.
What does Uniqkey do?
Uniqkey sells a business password and access-management platform, delivered as software, for organizations—particularly small and medium-sized businesses. Its service encrypts credentials and uses a mobile app to assist employees with logins. Reported capabilities include credential autofill, continuous authentication, multi-factor authentication, secure password sharing, access controls, grouped logins and administrator visibility into employee services and accounts. What size had Uniqkey reached at the time?
At the time of the funding announcement, Uniqkey reported more than 500 organizational or SME customers across Europe and a workforce of 50 employees. CEO Hakan Yagci told Tech.eu that the company had grown 100% year over year for the previous two years. These are company figures reported by SecurityWeek and Tech.eu in 2024, not independently audited metrics.
What is Uniqkey’s European security positioning?
Uniqkey describes its approach as European-built security and says it keeps sensitive data under European jurisdiction. Its About Us page says the company was founded in 2018 and identifies password and access management as its core category. Those statements describe its positioning; they do not, by themselves, establish specific certifications, regulatory compliance or a like-for-like security advantage over other providers. What the announcement does—and does not—tell customers
The funding news establishes the round size, lead investor and broad growth priorities. It does not provide a product price, independent performance results, a detailed compliance list or comparative evidence against other password managers. Organizations assessing Uniqkey should evaluate its login workflow, credential and MFA handling, administrator controls, data jurisdiction, compliance needs and total cost of ownership against their own requirements.
