Union Bank of India invited applications for 1,500 Local Bank Officer (LBO) posts from 24 October to 13 November 2024. That application window has closed. The recruitment was titled “Local Bank Officer 2025-26” by the bank; its online examination was held on 4, 5 and 6 December 2024, according to a later notice.
Application dates and recruitment overview
Union Bank of India’s notification, dated 24 October 2024, announced 1,500 Local Bank Officer vacancies in Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I). Online applications and fee payment were open from 24 October through 13 November 2024. The notification described the vacancy count as provisional and subject to the bank’s requirements. This is a past recruitment cycle, not an open application. The bank’s 2024 notice used the cycle title “Recruitment of Local Bank Officer 2025-26,” although applications opened in 2024.
State-wise vacancies and language requirement
The notice allocated vacancies among ten states. It also said applicants could apply for only one state and had to be proficient in that state’s specified language in reading, writing and speaking. The figures below are provisional notice totals, not a current vacancy count.

Union Bank’s notice also gave category totals across the 1,500 posts: 224 SC, 109 ST, 404 OBC, 150 EWS and 613 unreserved. These are the notification’s provisional figures.
Posting condition
The notification said selected candidates would be posted within the state they chose for the first 10 years of service or until promotion to SMGS-IV, whichever came earlier. Candidates needed to consider that condition alongside the state’s vacancy count and language requirement.
Eligibility and selection process
The notification required candidates to meet its eligibility criteria and provide supporting documents for identity, category, nationality, age, education and experience, as applicable. The exact age and education thresholds should be checked in the full official notification; they are not reproduced here. Do not rely on vacancy totals alone to determine eligibility.
The notice described an online examination covering reasoning, quantitative aptitude, English, and banking/general awareness. The reviewed official information does not establish the detailed qualifying thresholds or a final appointment outcome.

The 2024 notification listed a basic pay scale of ₹48,480–₹85,920, with increments within the scale. This is a basic-pay scale, not a take-home salary; allowances and other benefits were subject to the bank’s prevailing rules and policy.

In a notice dated 6 March 2025, Union Bank reported that the online examination had been held on 4, 5 and 6 December 2024. Candidates who qualified were provisionally shortlisted for document verification (DV). The notice gave 17–21 March 2025 as tentative dates for DV and, where applicable, a language proficiency test (LPT). Read the bank’s examination result and tentative schedule notice.
The LPT applied to eligible candidates whose school records did not show that they had studied the required local language as a subject in class 10 or 12. The notice said failing the test would disqualify a candidate from further selection, including interview. It said the interview schedule would be conveyed separately; the reviewed notices do not establish the final recruitment outcome.
