Status of the 2025 cycle
The notification set February 19 to March 5, 2025 as the application period. The bank’s recruitment page lists an extension, but the revised closing date does not appear in the notification text reviewed for this article, so check the page directly if you need that date. What the 2,691 seats were
The notification listed 2,691 provisional apprentice training seats across 25 state and union territory entries. The bank could change seat counts to match its actual requirement, so the figures were a planning estimate, not a guaranteed number of postings.

Candidates applied only for their home state. Applicants could state district preferences, but the bank kept discretion over district allocation based on administrative requirements.

Eligibility
- Education: A recognised university graduation, with the passing certificate issued on or after April 1, 2021.
- Age: 20 to 28 years as of February 1, 2025.
- Prior or current apprenticeship: Candidates who had completed or were in an apprenticeship were ineligible under the notice.
- Work experience: One year or more of qualifying work experience after graduation made a candidate ineligible.
Category relaxations applied to the 28-year upper limit as follows:

Training, stipend and employment status
- Duration: One year of on-the-job training.
- Stipend: ₹15,000 per month. The notice states no other allowances or benefits.
- Employment status: Apprentices are not bank employees. The bank is not obliged to offer a job on completion.
The notification, issued by the Human Resource Vertical of Union Bank of India’s Manpower Planning and Recruitment Division, states: “The engagement of apprentices is not an employment in the Bank.” Anyone weighing this intake should treat it as a paid training placement, not a route to a regular post.
How the application worked
- Register on the Government’s NATS portal, as the notice requires.
- Apply online against Union Bank’s apprenticeship advertisement.
- Pay the separate online examination fee. The notice names BFSI SSC for follow-up communication and fee payment.
- Treat the application as complete only after the fee is paid.
The notice warned that hard-copy applications would not be accepted. Fees were non-refundable:

Selection process
Selection had an online examination followed by local-language proficiency, document verification and medical fitness checks. The online test pattern was:

The examination lasted 60 minutes. The notice does not name or endorse any study material. Quantitative aptitude and reasoning are the sections where general bank-exam practice books are typically used. Such books are an optional aid, not an application requirement.
